Engine too hot!!! What shall I do?

Here is my problem guys...
My engine gets soo hot but the temp gauge reads normal and there is no overheating. Just changed the water pump too. Is there a cooling fan like in most cars? I mean the engine gets so hot that you cannot even touch the hood. Thanks in advance for your comments.

maybe your clutch on the fan is shot, see if you can spin it by hand easily when the engine is hot

Probably a weak fan clutch...it may be time for a new heavy duty thermo-fan-clutch.

Also, what deg. thermostat are you using? Stock?

What coolant/water mix are you using?

What are the high temps like this time of year in Istanbul? :dunno:

Well I am using stock termostat, just water no coolant and let me tell you its damn hot (40Celcius) in Istanbul even right now (00:48Hrs local time)

Well, your clutch is probably weak/shot like bezerk said. Probably time for a heavy duty clutch.

You may also want to swap out the stock thermostat for a 160*F thermostat.

 40*C at midnight/1am...that is probably part of the problem too. It is 18*C here at 3pm.

Thanks for the help...I think I better check the "fan clutch". Happen to have any pics of it (forgive my ignorance) language can be problem sometimes

The place for looking for part # is this one.

http://www.sytyauthority.net/

The ac delco part # is. On this part you only want to use the factory part because most aftermarket fan clutch don't work good at all.

ACDelco Part # 15-4630 OR GM Part # 15709933

Or you can always convert to electric fans. We have 2 12" pushers and they keep the V8 cool, even when it's 90* F outside. :2cents:
