Finally Got myself a Ty

Well, It's a done deal. I just got home from Florida this weekend, the proud owner of a 93 black Typhoon with 26k miles signed by Dale Earnhardt. Other than a smacked cladding and needing a tuneup very badly, it's in great condition. Other than that, all it needs is a real exhaust and a few misc. pieces(mostly jimmy parts). The best part, I got it before the bidding on ebay really heated up... I think it's still there for some reason.

This week I'm changing every drop of fluid from the oil to the diff's. Getting some minor repairs done, and that thing will be primed and ready for fixing the cladding... once I find some.

My biggest thing right now, is the leveler... it's going berserk. I'll be looking around to find a way to either repair or disconnect it. It sounds almost like the abs is kicking in every so often... haven't figured out exactly when or why it starts yet, need to drive it around town to pinpoint that.

And I want to thank everyone on this board for helping me(either directly or indirectly) find this truck and all the things to look for.

Congrats! Pull the fuse that's labeled ELC and the pump will stop.

Re: Finally Got myself a Ty

Sorry, No pics yet... I need to get a camera one of these days.

As for the sig., it's on the glovebox. Helped out in kentucky too. Driving home, I got pulled over and the cop let me go after seeing good 'ol Dale's scribble. He never heard of a typhoon, so I had to show him as I pulled away. I was pressing my luck, but thankfully, he didn't bother following me.

If I can get that kinda money for it... I'll sell it in a minute.

And last I checked, no ty was ever produced with an 8 cylinder.

Heck yeah, I'm keepin' the Olds!

Although I do need to toss a bit of time and $$$ at it so it'll keep up with the ty now...

I cant quite remember the details but I remember hearing about that truck from someone before.... The Dale Earnhardt sig is firing some synapses in my memory...

Yep... That's the one. And yes I saw the odometer thing. But after a cleaning the injectors with some additive, that truck runs better than my dad's 78k ty(and he's ungodly maticulus about maintaining his). And in the condition it's in, I can't beleive that the od. has reset. Either way, it's a project no matter how many miles, and without rust, I still think I got a good deal. The only way I can beleive that the miles are way off is if the owner replaced all the interior parts and a good portion of the drivetrain, which might as well be a new car anyway... it's not like I paid for the miles, or the sig... heck I did a straight trade on my old pickup valued at about $6000.

As for the questions... I'm in Shelby Twp, and my olds is a '72 Cutlass Supreme with a rocket 350, 4bbl, th350. I've put alot into it so far and it's running at about 360hp/415ft.lbs. torque. Not racing it, so I don't have any slips.
