so earlier in the year (may) I built a new mandrel bent 2.5" down pipe, I made it in 2 parts for ease of installation. I just recently made a new upper portion to utilize the 4 bolt flange conversion and puck removal.

I then had the 2 pieces thermal ceramic coated (2000*)... just got them back today

I have materials to make another downpipe if someone is interested.. can also get it coated too

It's just a six

Look great!

I don't understand sticking with the original sized 2.5" downpipe though?

That is a lot of work, for not much improvement? Unless your main focus was to have better boost control?

Not trying to be offensive, just curious.

Looks very nice, great work... If you dont mind telling us, what did it cost to build the whole thing?

The original is 2.5" you're right, but it's crush bent, a d according to my measurements is crushed in 1 area to 2" and another at 1.87", so this is an improvement, which was felt back when I made it.

I used Advanced Powdercoating in Lindon since it's very close to me.

About $200 my cost including the powder coating.

I also stuck with the 2.5" as I don't need a full 3 since I'm using g a stock turbo. the cat and the ret of the exhaust is 3", should I ever want to go bigger, it's easy to do.

Damn, that looks really good. Just curious, on the inside of the flange, wouldn't it be good to weld the pipe edge and then sand/grind it back down smooth so that you fill that ring? Guess over time it would just fill up on its own, but wouldn't that cause an issue with flow?

not really, remember that's just the wastegate, only open under full boost... and even then its only open for seconds unlike the main pipe

is that for the stock 3 bolt? mine is different from the op's.

sorry about the highjack but i couldn't pm renzfab.

the flange pictured is for a stock turbo. Do you not have a stock turbo? I can make flanges for non-stock turbos also. You should be able to pm me :dunno: email: mike@renzfab.com
