Ok i have a 92 all original Typhoon that iwas trying to sale but not happening.

So i will prob keep it and was thinking about doing some boltons and just keep the stock stuff to put back on.

As far as bolt on's go, whats some intakes, dowpipes, exhaust, and tune would you do??

Re: First Mods

Search is your friend.

Check the members rides and read what some of the big dogs have. That should give you a starting point.

logging and tuning, logging and tuning, logging and tuning..... then bolt on a part, then logging and tuning, logging and tuning.. rinse, repeat.

Re: First Mods

Got bored again so I wanted to repost this.

Got bored at work and wrote this up... look forward to corrections if needed.

Before upgrading anything you need to verify your truck is running perfectly without signs of a possible problem.
(If you don’t follow this advice you will destroy your truck it’s just a matter if time.)

You should verify your truck is running perfectly often… A truck with a small problem pushing enough power can instantly end up on jack stands.

To verify your truck is running fine you would want to scan it with TTS Data Master which will require a laptop.
You also will need to download the software below as well as buy the USB to ALDL cable below.

They give you a trial and you can buy it afterward. Here is the download link:
http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DataMaster_downloads2.html

To connect your laptop to your truck you need a USB to ALDL cable. Here is a cheap place to buy it:
http://www.aldlcable.com/sc/details.asp?item=aldlobd1u

AGAIN MAKE SURE YOUR TRUCK IS RUNNING NICE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO CHANGE ANYTHING!~
(This is only meant to make sure you don’t blow your engine. So many things can go wrong without any signs until it’s too late.)

All the basics for this truck need to be looked into. The best place to start to get an understanding would be here:
http://www.powertuneplus.com/syclone/howto_stock13s.shtm

READ IT ALL!~

After you get a good understanding on the basic upgrades then you can look at getting a chip for better tuning.

The best bet is a custom chip where you can change everything to fit your trucks. This is the best bang for your buck because if you upgrade anything on your truck you can correct your tuning to match.

All the tuning hardware can be found here:

All the tuning information can be found here:

Re: First Mods

My best advice on the subject of modding is stated over and over again on this site.

Get the truck running as close to perfect as physically possible stock before modding anything (excluding reliability mods, ic hot wire, walbro fuel pump ect).

Then go for mods. These trucks are known to knock like a DEA agent.

Re: First Mods

Have it tuned by a pro while you learn the in's and out's of the truck. Much cheaper paying a pro a few times than replacing your motor.....

Re: First Mods

the cable listed above was my first "MOD" turns out was the most important one, and the guys here can point out any issues in less time it takes you to hook it up to your laptop! do it and get the data logging uploaded! goodluck!

Re: First Mods

So this isnt a good truck to go out and just start bolting on parts with

i think its already been answered. to the point, there temperamental and little knowledge of what your doing with these trucks can get ya on jack stands for sure. and from what i seen in the past no you dont just bolt on and go fast.

Re: First Mods

Well its an old turbo truck shoulda known.

Dude, the truck has survived for 18 years without anybody really driving it or dorking it up.

If you want it to have any value in the future, you prolly shouldn't drive it or dork it up.

Ya know?

:dunno:

There are only so many not driven not dorked trucks out there. It would be foolish to possibly destroy a diamond in the rough.

That truck "may" be worth a mint in a few years (or not)

Best to err on the side of caution, instead of potentially destroying any future collector value that it may have.

:2cents:

BTW,in 1986 anybody there coulda bought an Atlas Gold '69 Yenko Camaro at Carlisle for $6k

Nobody did. It's a 250-300k car today.

Food for thought.

Re: First Mods

Here is what I would if you are bent on doing something but want to be able to go back to stock.

Datamaster
Tuner pro for tuning
wideband
20g turbo
40 or 65# injectors
3 bar map
AFPR
Walbro 255
Hotwired Shurflo IC pump
Big trans cooler
2800 stall converter
and ALKY injection with out a doubt.

IMO, this makes for a very fun stockish truck and you arent going too far with it that you cant turn back.
