Re: forest green?

128.... Total production
43 have been wrecked and repaired
14 have been totaled and crushed
3 still have less than 5,000 miles on them
1 is owned by a celebrity
3 others at one time were celebrity owned
2 sit in private large car collections (30+ cars)
2 were used by PAS for testing and detroyed
1 believe it or not was used for target practice at a gun range

I have paperwork to prove it, just can't release it due to legal reasons.

Re: forest green?

92? Only 3.
But 10 other trucks were never painted and left the factory covered in primer.
Rumor has it 1 of those 10 became a bahama blue Ty and the other 9 were painted green/grey by the dealerships when they put the roof racks on.

Re: forest green?

1 92 Green ty was used in ABS testing
2 92 Green ty's were used as Demonstration vehicles at the factory
3 others were sent out for auto shows
and
7 were returned to the factory for warranty work after being sold at dealers.

You just got lucky as the green ty's I have collected and sorted the most data on, still working on the other colors as my attorney and I get this all sorted.

The Bahama Blue is a lighter color blue.
See this pic.

As you can see, it states Original GM Color.
Apparently, they wanted to make bahama blue ones so they got the paint supplied by Duplicolor, however after hearing this, PPG got pissed off and immediately ordered a cease and desist because they had a contract with GM to be the only provider of paints for our trucks.

I think I have that lawsuit paperwork somewhere on my desk under a stack of papers.

Re: forest green?

Interesting story behind the bahama blue ty.

One of the key engineers had bought a firebird brand new that color.

He had kept the car since new, in very nice original condition. As a test he convinced them to paint a typhoon as a "test" vehicle the same color. He was able to drive the truck for awhile but when PAS had difficulties he was not able to purchase it due to the circumstances surronding the company, etc.

Re: forest green?

yea this green is sort of similar to the dggm paint they used on the 95-96 impala ss big bodies just more metaliic seems that the ty green is alot more one colored. the dggm had blue and grey in it as well but the base color looks just like the one clint is driving.
