Freeze Plug ?

I was under the truck last night looking at the trans to see what it take to pull it and I look over and the freeze plug catches my eye....it's brass and not painted also has a overheat tag sensor on it....is that a factory thing or not?. In the past all factory engines I worked on had cheep freeze plugs and no overheat tag.
Looks like a new motor to me! the seller i got it from only had it for a month or so he is clueless to the history of the truck.
I know that is was from LA but that's it.

Hmm... Don't know, but I'm worried about my freeze plugs, looks like one's pretty rusted out, not gonna be a fun thing to fix. Anyone got any suggestions on this? A search didn't seem to bring up much relevant stuff.

all the motors ive worked on they have had braas freeze plugs

the motor i just tore down for a rebuild had brass ones, they looked like crap before but once removed and cleaned a bit you could tell they were brass

Re: Freeze Plug ?

Sounds like a marker for the reman company. That sounds like what you have described.

I am pretty sure that it is a reman , knowing that... how do you tell the diff from reg 4.3 and ours?

I'm guessing by the pistons. Rumor is these things have "no compression pistons" in 'em. I can't say fo-sho since I've never seen the inside of a stocker.
