Head Gasket Availability

Looking for some Victor Head/Intake Gaskets for my truck for early next week.

The local Car Quest carries them, but have to be special ordered and at the cost of $300 for the head set:rant:

I know Hood sells them and I have a PM out to him, but not sure on his lead time.

Anybody have any other sources, ideas etc...??????

Thanx:)

Yeah check with RPM , there's a few vendors that carry them. I think Hood might be on vacation, not 100% on that.

Re: Head Gasket Availability

I realize these results may not be typical and many of you guys wouldnt suggest fel pro replacement gaskets i thought i would post our expierence with the fel pro replacement gaskets anyway.
I installed a set of fel pro head gaskets on a customers typhoon about 11 months ago,at the time i was not aware of any upgraded aftermarket gaskets being available, i was not a owner of a syclone or typhoon yet and due to the time issue i had to deal with him needing the vehicle on monday and it was friday evening when he brought the typhoon in we had little options other then off the shelf autozone gaskets.
anyway thow it states no sealant requiredon the fel pro blue permatorque gaskets i sprayed them with hi tac (Copper gasket spray ) anyway and while i was disassembling the upper end the gaskets were allowed to dry properly,we then cleaned and reassembled the eng the next morning with these gaskets and a new set of head bolts and it has been just under a year since the head gaskets were replaced and there has been no issue, and previous to the replacement of the head gaskets being replaced we upgraded the turbo to a t3t4 57 trim T04-E with an external 40mm wastegate and he runs 16 PSI with a HKS AIC Controller and a set of 6 extra stock injectors and he drives the truck hard on a daily basis, and the best part was the head gaskets were only 9.99 each i know usually get what you pay for and i ws concerned at the time with the gaskets lasting but i wouldnt think twice about useing them on my typhoon after this expierence
just my 2 cents
good luck man

As said below it appears that Fel Pro no longer makes a gasket specific for the turbo 4.3L. With that being said I'm going to assume that you used a standard 4.3L gasket and if so I've wondered myself how well it would hold up on a stock build???? I would think with thirteen bolts holding the head down, head gasket failure would be minimal, but is it worth it????

Re: Head Gasket Availability

Use Victor Reinz # 5855 they have a COT of .039"-.046" along with a 304 firing ring and the standard 4.3L head gasket have a COT of .026"-.033: depending on brand and material.
