about the flexplate question, you''re about 10 minutes away to see if that''s the problem.
just unscrew your TC inspection plate, 4bolts, ((replace the bolts with normal heads, because it''s a TORX head with american size (RARE))
maybe you need a shizel to unbolt the bolts as you don''t have the right torx.
Just run the engine and see if the flexplate makes the noise.

When my flexplate broke it started with a noise like a rod does.
It broke on the dyno and i could see the monitor at -20*
I could drive home with 40 mph though
It broke arround the bolts
Pull the cover and look the tc bolts also

The flexplate bolts look good. Same with TC. The noise is the same "still loud". No check engine light. Good oil press. It over boosts though. It had about 680 miles on it when I noticed. It sounds just like a diesel. ::sick::

what is the frequence of the sound? oes it goes up with RPM
it could be the Cat? had that problem before
no metal chips in oil? <= take a look and be sure about it

I don't have a cat.
It goes up with RPM.
The ferquence of the sound is faster than the timing.
Have not looked in the oil yet thats next.
