I currently have been building my 4.3L to be virtually indestructible. trouble is my budget has been cut severely and im creeping up on the 10yr mark my baby has been off the road. I currently have a Rockford Racecraft prepped short block. heavily ported/polished stage 3 L35 heads stock valve size, kenne bell A2A intercooler, 20g turbo, KB Headers, KB Cold air intake. Cam and valve train have not been selected yet, trans and torque converter are stock for now. How should I finish this thing? Use for injectors? use for tuning? custom chip? BS3? I need some advice please!

I think it really depends on what your end goal is. Do you want a street truck or something for the track or a Saturday night toy? That will determine a lot of what you need. Personally, I want something that is quick at the stop lights but still friendly enough to drive a few days a week.

I would vote for a 2600 or 2800 stall converter
60# Injectors
meth injection
Get in touch with Steve Morris Racing for a custom cam
Roller tip rockers
Turbo tweak chip

That is similar to what I am building, it isn't the most expensive route but you aren't cutting corners and based on similar builds of other members I think that should be enough to keep anyone happy.

Ive got the same idea in mind for the use of the truck. thought about a custom ground cam from comp. and the ultra pro magnum rockers. will a 2800 converter and 60lb injectors be enough for a turbo upgrade later on down the road?

Here's my budget build:
First of all, anything from Rockford Racecrap is crap.Throw that shit away.

If I was gonna do a budget build. I'd get a Big Vortec head 4.3.Get it built with block fill,a turbo cam,and running E85. I'd put the biggest ****ing turbo that would ,wait never mind, this isn't a budget build.

What's your budget?

What size is the 20G's exhaust housing. A 14cm2 would need ~2600-2800 stall, 8cm2 or 10cm2 maybe able to get away with a stock stall. Their is a chance that your Rockford Racecraft motor doesn't have the parts that you think it has. Stage 3 L35 with stock valves? I would run it as is and not expect miracles.

I would get a custom turbo cam, 60# injectors, 2800 rpm stall and turbo tweak chip and enjoy your truck.

If interested I can put you in touch with the guy at Comp that figured out the grind for my build. 60/1 turbo, 3"DP 60# injs, etc. Ran 11.80 & 11.95 @ 116 but usually in the low 12s. On a good launch it will do high 1.6's Street performance is very nice. Idle is a bit rougher than normal. Turbotweak chip. He said he had a better cam than mine but it required 1.6 rockers and I already had 1.5s. Regardless I would hold off on things like springs, retainers, rockers, until the cam is selected.:2cents:

OK, I am aware of the issues with Rockford Racecraft. I was fortunate enough to get my stuff out of there before things went way south there (I still got screwed on price of services rendered). the crank has been cryo'd, nitrided, and stress relieved, it has eagle H beams and speed pro forged pistons. I am a professional technician and have personally verified the correct parts in my engine. block is 1/3 filled, had the rotating assembly balanced by pfieffer engine specialties.
As for the heads, I purchased them from the dude who did all of Rockford Racecrafts porting/polishing. they were for a side project of his, he never got around to putting bigger valves in.
20g turbine housing is 14cm2.

Re: Help with Ideas for a budget v6 build!

I do not have a full cam card for this grind. I will have to request full specs from comp.

Just so you know, there is nothing you can do to the stock crank to make it indestructible.
