Here's the Sy located near me

$16,500

I talked to the guy yesterday about it. He seems to want quite a bit. Not that I don't appreciate a low mileage Syclone but as I've said before, this thing has been filled to the brim with junk that he's hauled to the dump. It's almost never clean...

Told him I'd stop by this week to look at it.

What do you guys think is a reasonable price for it? (keeping in mind is has quite a few dings, scratches and will need a complete paintjob and that's all I've noticed wrong without getting right up next to it)

New fenders ... needs paint? $12k is a better price if you ask me ... the rest of it better be flawless, lol. Was it in an accident?! ---

hated cuz he drives fords
Re: Here's the Sy located near me

needs two new fenders and plastics?? plastics meaning cladding?? plus a paint job and who knows whatever else is wrong with it especially if he's been hauling shit in it like you said all the time... way too much money i'd be thinking the 6k range unless it's super duper clean and has next to nothing knock on datamaster

Seems priced quite high. I think someone just bought a minty truck for the same price. If the paint is real bad and it is rusty then it is waaay over priced. If it is just has dings and scratches here and there, no rust it might be a nice truck if mechanically it is real good. Get a close look, take a drive, look it over well and then make a reasonable offer of what you would like to pay.

Turrbo6's truck is wicked nice and priced to sell!

If needs paint, I would say under 10k. It probably needed new fender because he drove it in the sand and salt.

Sorry boys, gotta go lower than that on this one even without pic's. Rust, paint AND CLADDING? I am guessing (no pics or interoir details) $8-9Kk and that's if all else is primo. Just to many other real nice truck for that pice and less or to many other that are in a little better shape for a LOT LESS :2cents:

I agree. I bought my truck a few years back for $11,000 with about 58,000 miles and it is super clean. $16,500 isn't happenin. $8,000 tops.

Thanks for the input guys. I will look at the truck sometime this week and see what his stance is on the price.

It might be worth checking out since its local. I looked at local Sy before I bought mine. (I actually looked at 2, one sold at the dealership just before I got there, they wouldn't even let me sit in it) I knew it was overpriced (and a recovered theft) but I wanted to make sure it was something that I wanted if I had to travel to buy another one.

Re: Here's the Sy located near me

Just checked it out on kbb and they have it listed at $14,000 for good condition in my area and $13,000 for fair. Eek! I was hoping to score this one for closer to $10,000 considering the defects. I'll let y'all know how it goes tomorrow when I look at it.

NADA is 12,500. $1K difference between fair and good condition, I personally don't care KBB I know of few expamples where they are off by a mile in values.

Re: Here's the Sy located near me

maybe just because i'm in california... but i checked the KBB on my syclone a few months ago and it said private party value was 16k in good condition with 82k.

It seems like everyone is still in 98-02 price mode for these trucks... with there being less than 3000 syclones made... the value is only going to continue to go up, especially with more and more getting stolen or totalled every year... so if everyone keeps dumbing the price down to what they paid for their trucks years ago, then the real value will never go up...

16,500 is a bit high if it needs all that work... but i would say a truck in good condition with a few cosmetic blemishes and 55k miles should be going for 16500 or 17000. If you have a truck in good condition and KBB and NADA are saying its worth 16k then ask for 16k.

there's only 8 syclones for sale on autotrader.com right now... supply and demand! if everyone selling their trucks asks for what they're worth then they'll get it... but you guys chiming in here saying 8 and 9 grand, it gets people that don't own one yet thinking they aren't worth anything.

i'm not trying to sound like that much of a money grubbing asshole, but give our trucks some credit!

I'm putting my sy up for sale this summer, and don't want people calling wasting my time offering me 8 or 9 grand... i get enough of that already from the border brothers trying to offer me 3grand for it, thinking its a cool 'chevy' they can put lawn mowers in.

No offence meant but most of us here ARE owners and we want all the respect and money we can get for our trucks (where’s Rodney when you need him), when one of us do decide to sell. On the other hand, again most of us want to spend as little as we can when we buy and WE ALL want the value of our trucks to go up  ! But the market is soft now as we know and only real mint trucks are pulling the $12k plus prices right now. Anything less is subject to what a buyer will pay and what a seller will let it go for (duh).

I have seen sellers sit on a total POS for years asking thousands (sometimes many thousands) more than the best offer they ever got. In some cases the owner died waiting for that magic number to come and never did. I have purchased several cars from the wife or family years later because I left my card that said "If you ever change your mind.... call this number". Some I have gone back too every year or so and pointed out "a new rust hole" and dropped the offer, then stopped going back when there was nothing left and had the owner call me with a "well I haven't heard from you in a while, still interested?" I just say no.... sorry. Nothing left to be interested in.

Point is "this" truck is not being described as in “good condition" or even fair for that matter! Needs fenders, cladding, dents, dings and scratches from "hauling junk". If it has rust in both front fenders / the front end of the truck, 99% chance it has rust in other places too. If the rust is bad enough to need body panel replacement.... NADA & KBB don’t even come close to applying. Read the fine print "levels of condition" in the front of the books and I think you will find based on the description given in this thread, NADA & KBB both will rate as poor or even not rated! These kinds of repairs can cost THOUSANDS in parts alone (full set of cladding or even partial if all the mounts and brackets are missing or damaged) then start your body and rust repair from there. I would be curious what a licensed NADA or KBB / Collector appraiser would say (with book in hand) based on the description posted in this thread?

Many of us that are "multi truck owners", myself, T-bone etc. WILL PAY for a sound truck but the R.U.S.T. word can make me hang up the phone little less even lift a finger to go look unless I'm shopping for a parts truck and the guy says "$6k but make me an offer". We are in a buyers market right now and as with all things you can wait and look around for better (it's out there), give it you best shot on what it will cost (guess) to fix the rust and make an appropriate offer, go ahead and pay to much for "this / that" truck due to the I just gotta have one now or due to lack of actual knowledge or just walk away (buyer or seller either one). General rule of thumb is that you are usually better of to spend a little more and get a better truck, in the long run it will save you money. It's only worth what some one will pay and that may be a little or a lot. Sucker born every minute and ten to take his place, seen it to many times :2cents:

BTW, if your truck is real nice (sounds like it might be), I don't think you will have a lot to worry about as far as getting it's actual value if you aren't in a hurry to sell it  . That and "PRICE IS FIRM" in your add will help.

Re: Here's the Sy located near me

I wasn't able to look at the truck tonight. My boss kinda screwed me over by making me stay at work until really late. The more I speak with the owner's son about seeing the truck, the more he's coming off like a complete jerkoff. I'll try to check it out Sunday but it's not looking good. :(
