For no damn front plate! Anybody ever get one? What do you suggest! I don't have a front plate didn't come withit, passed inspection without it, Another cop pulled me over once before and all I said was they weren't made to have one from the factory "OK have a nice day". What should I do. Mayberry cop gave me one a town of like 500 prople and in a 80 model caprice.

i keep my plate in the front window on the dash on the passenger side. looks better there then on front of my truck.

the "putting the plate in the window" thing doesnt work in NJ either. I had mine in my window 3 days after i bought my truck and got pulled over for it, and still got harrassed, i had the truck for 3 DAYS!!!
needless to say, if i have my plate off now, I simply tell the cop that the part is backorded from GM but im trying to get one. they usually have nothing to say after that.

well in most cases its just a $10 fix it ticket.
But i do believe i have all of you beat. Last year when my syclone was wrecked, and in the shop for 9 months, i was told to take my sy back home till parts arrived, so the shop guy could have more room on his lot.
a few weeks later he calls and says the parts are here, bring the truck down. meanwhile my rear bumper and license plate are still at the shop, but i still have current registration, and my front plate clearly visible in the windshield.
so i leave my house to head down to the shop. i approach the stop sign right around the corner from my house, and look over and notice a revenue collector (aka cop) trying to make quota by ticketing people rolling through a stop sign, thats in the middle of a hill thats about 3% grade in an unbusy residential area. once im through the intersection i see porky start up the bike and come after me. he pulls me over and says i stopped you cause you dont have any plates on your vehicle. i explain the situation that im taking my truck to the shop and thats where my plate and bumper are.
But this fuckin guy is so sexually disfunctional at home that he has to get off by being a fuckin prick and giving me a ticket anyway.
a few weeks later the courtesy notice arrives saying that i need to show proof of correction, but i cant do that since my truck is still in the shop, so i get an extension. another month goes by and my truck is still in the shop. so now another notice comes from the court asking me to show valid reason of why i didnt get the ticket taken care of by the previous date given. but, the court sends this letter post marked 4 days after the reason for non payment is due. again i get a letter from the court saying theyve added a $250 civil assement fee. so i go to court with the corrections made, and a work order from the shop saying my truck was in there from the date of the ticket till a few days after the payments were due.... i present all of this to the judge, and he says ok, well we'll waive the $250 and you can pay $87 to the clerk... and i said why do i have to pay $87, and he says becuase you didnt pay the ticket on time. and i said i couldnt because i didnt have the car to correct it, and he says yeah i know thats why i waived the $250 fine, and i said ok but why do i have to pay $87 instead of $10, and he says becuase you didnt pay the ticket on time, and i said i know but im only paying $10, since you guys sent me the paperwork 4 days after the due date. and he says would you like to pay the civil assesment fee also? and i said no... i only want to pay $10, cause i dont understand why i have to pay for the court not sending me paperwork on time... the outta nowhere he slams down the gavel and says this isnt lets make a deal, youll pay the full amount of $312 to the clerk, have a nice day.
i went back later and still tried to fight it but got fucked again... this is probably the worst assfucking ive had to deal with from any court ever.... $312 for not having a license plate on my truck. yup! justice has been served and thousand oaks is now a safer community!!! :roll:

I just got a ticket a couple weeks ago myself and had the front plate in the window. Cop didn't say a thing about it. Good thing too; WRONG PLATES!! Luckily he never asked for my registration, but hey, a '91 Jimmy is close to a Sy right?!? :lol: And even funnier, on my insurance card, it reads a 92 Sonoma. (my old truck) Close one there!!!

I have 2 things planned to tell an officer if I get stopped for no front plate. (I took mine off and it looks SO much better without one.)
#1. The front bumper costs $1000 and is out of production and I had mine replaced last winter and I am not planning on drilling any holes in it any time soon. (maybe worded nicer than that.)
#2. I like Morgan's (?) idea of saying "I have the part backordered from GM". What can a cop respond to that?
If you absolutely have no recourse but to run a front plate, please don't drill your precious $985 cladding, at the worst case use Morgan's (there he is again) front license plate mounting frame idea where it comes from underneath the front bumper and supports it without actually contacting the cladding at all. Just a custom bent piece of metal, I seem to remember.
