hey guys i just got my rebuilt motor in yesterday and now i have a few problems. firs problem is my odometer and trip odometer isnt moving, which is kind of nice but i dont like it, next problem my gauges fuse keeps on blowing in the fuse box , cuting out all my gauges everything besides the gas gauge, and when i put a new one in as soon as i touch the brakes it blows again, now when i turn on my headlights with the fuse blown i get the ignition buzzer , that is very annoying... and the truck when i come to stops withe the fuze burnt out and the lights on , the trucks lights dim, and the truck seems not to run well.....i turn off the lights the truck is fine, other than not knowing how fast im going and rpm ext. :-? could it be a ground? i cleaned up all the grounds that i could see and no luck

There's some wires that plug into the back of the ECM, that control the odometer and trip meter, perhaps they became unplugged. The rest would only be a good guess.

Why don't you have your engine builder fix these problems?

Look for wires caught between the engine and bellhousing when the engine was installed, you have wires that go to the gauge sending units (Temp and oil pressure), vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer, rear lights and all on the drivers side around the cylinder head area close to the fire wall. Also look for missing/unhooked ground wires, there is one supposed to be hooked up at the rear of the passenger side cylinder head (large one). You may need to start at one end of the engine harness and work your way all around the engine until you get to the end that plugs into the firewall on the drivers side. It also passes through the firewall on the Passenger side under the A/C housing and goes to the ecm here. If your sy wasn't doing this before the engine job, more than likely wires got crushed or burned on the exhaust system... Good luck!! 8)

I would say that what v6kompressor said would be the first place to look, wiring at back of engine or down by starter.
