Anyone know where to get new instrument panel lamps? I went to my local auto parts store today and bought the correct bulbs, but I later found out that the bulbs in my I/P don't separate from the bases!!!

Whoever told you that is not thinking correctly. the I/P (Instrument Panel) aka: Guage Cluster lamps are twist off and they have a part number from GM.

I can tell you first hand that it can be done, as I have replaced all bulbs in my dash.

There are two kinds of bulbs for the Cluster. The smaller ones (GM# 25066604) illuminate the service indicators (lower portion) and the Larger ones (GM# 25085970) illuminate the dials and trip/odometer.

Historically Significant
I think a jar of lightning bugs will light up my guages better than the current bulbs in my typhoon. Are there any brighter bulbs available that'll fit in place of the GM ones or a they just dim since they're old?

Kurt,

mine are fairly well illuminated.

It could be in your case that a few bulbs are out, causing a dimness.

I think if I remember correctly, I at first guessed 2 or 3 bulbs were out in mine, but later found that I had 6 or 7 out.

Bulbs are cheap too.

Great! thanks for the info. How about the gm part number for the PRNDL lamps in the shift console?

the shift console bulbs are just ur normal 194 style push in bulbs. there are 2 of them in there.
