injector leaking... advice?

hey all, wrapping up my very lengthy upgrade (6mos) of swapping in a pt63, rpm a2a and new 50# injectors (i work very slow). finally got to fire it up today and it seemed to run fine (on jackstands). i noticed one of the injectors (frontmost on driver's side) was seeping a little gas from the top where the injector meets the rail. for some reason i was having problems getting that upper inj clip lined up properly ... almost as if i may have twisted the fuel rail a bit during install by accident. when looking at the alignment of the rail bung(?) and that specific injector, it looks like they werent straight. should i try to twist it back? should i get a new o-ring also? any advice would help. thanks, paul

I've found that a little white lithium grease on the o-rings both eases installation and can help stop leaks. HTH

yes and yes....a leaky injector is a very bad thing....be sure to purchase and carry a fire extinguisher at all times in these trucks....we dont need any fires....when you get your fuel rail straight again, loosen the rail at the side that it's leaking and push down on the rail then tighten....the best way to straighten out your rail would be to remove it imo....also be careful not to over tighten any of the four rail hold down bolts...they strip very easily....

thanks guys, i'll try to grease up the o-ring and straighen out the fuel rail tomorrow after work. i'll report back the results when done. hopefully i'll get this thing back on the road soon ... itching to see how it feels with the new mods.

IMHO If the o-ring was installed dry then you may have damaged it or it's twisted. Unless you're absolutely sure it's not leaking I'd suggest (again just my opinion) that you pull the entire fuel rail and start over with inspected and lubed o-rings. As mentioned, better safe then sorry here.

My ass. Look at it.
Re: injector leaking... advice?

I have sliced an injector o-ring before and it leaked like crazy, its pretty easy to damage the o-rings when installing the injectors...

Re: injector leaking... advice?

i was able to twist the fuel rail slightly to make it line up with the injector better. so far it looks like it seated. i let the truck run for a few mins and it is dry. even when i just jumpered the fuel pump to run w/ the engine off (w/o vacuum) it is okay. still need to check when under boost. crossing my fingers.

thanks for the help,
paul
