did the search read all the stuff i could, decided on the 1/2 size and weight 350-454 starter.went to autozone, bought a 98 3/4 ton high torque truck starter. yes i bought all new not rebuilt.went in like a dream, starts like a dream, now im thinking of replacing the slightly case hardened purple wire and getting a new starter cable since they look worn and rest on the stock down pipe.ill reroute them some how.i just havent figured it out yet.
where is the easiest place to access that purple wire???
i was told by the brake booster.

its a direct bolt on-no shimming required.
crossing autozones number its a 9990s or dlg9990s 1997 to at least year 2000(ill re-look it up on autozone .com)
and it fits 4.3s with through bolts all the way up to 454 one ton trucks

i had the 3/4 ton hi torque starter installed. 2 days later the ty wouldnt start. i couldnt even get a click when i turned the key. so, today i had the ty towed back to pepboys where the starter was purchased and installed. hopefully they will figure out what the problem is. i'm not sure if i want to reinstall the hi torque starter or go back to the original. i'll wait and see what the tech says is the problem. i like the mini starter because you can tell how easily it starts the engine, but if its not reliable then its back to the original for me.
