Johnson IC pump

Well I drained all my antifreeze today to change my heater core and figured while I was at it I would drain the lower IC and do the Johnson pump on it that I bought. So I hook the pump up after figuring out that black on the stock plug is power and I try both wires on the pump and both will turb it on so I assume that one will flow it one way and the other the opposite way. So my question is does anyone know what wire to hook to the power on the stock harness I have a black and a red on my IC pump. I just want to make sure it is flowing the right direction. I did a search and could not find anything about it. Thanks

Re: Johnson IC pump

I would bet the red wire is power. Just fill the system with coolant and see what end of the pump it comes out of. If thats not the end you want switch it. Remember to use gravity for the lower intercooler return line. There is also a trick to filling the system back up. Leave the upper intercooler unbolted and disconnected from the intake. Raise the inter cooler as high as you can, run the pump and fill at the same time. You can hear the air being purged as you do this. It will take months of driving to get the air out otherwise. (This will only work if you have heater hose lines.)

So the stock black wire is not ground and should be connected to the red wire coming out of the Johnson pump? Anyone else can confirm?
