Hey guys, I'm brand new into the world of syclones or any turbo car for that matter! I am really looking into purchasing a syclone and it was repainted white. I test drove it today and i was dissapointed in the speed. It didnt feel like a 13-14 second car at all! Is it because the turbo may be worn out or because i have no idea how to build boost, or could it be because the car has 120,000 miles on it, even though it was kept very well care of? I would really appreciate your guys' inputs!! Thanks!!!!!

Don't let the 120,000 miles fool ya.Pay no-attention to the morons that sterotype the high mileage ones.

Mine has 118,000 on it & i promise ya it'd run 13s & it's bone stock down to the chip & exhaust.

You may just need a tune-up or something simple.

Look at the FAQ to the LEFT & talk to some of em on here.

Good luck.

I was disappointed in the horsepower on my Syclone when I bought it also. Then I scanned it. It was very lean with a lot of knock retard. A walbro fuel pump fixed that. The intercooler pump wasn't working. A Jabsco pump fixed that. I wasn't getting full boost. I adjusted the wastegate arm to fix that. I then replaced the Champion plugs with AC R42ts plugs, new plug wires and a new Conrad cap and rotor. With a stock truck with a K&N filter and a cutout in the downpipe as the ONLY mods I ran a 13.6 at 97.7 MPH at 4,990ft above sea level. The moral of the story...a Sy or a Ty will need a lot of patient tuning and repair to run its best. Only a few owners keep them in tip-top shape to run very well right after they sell it to you.

I agree with Eluding's statement so much that I am going to take it further and suggest that the vast majority of SyTys for sale are in poor tune and on average almost 1 full second slower in the 1/4 mi than they ought to be, due to improper ignition components, lean fueling, and inappropriate mod combos. So if you are looking at used SyTys, you can pretty much expect them to be running pretty poorly, and just be surprised if you find a really good one. That's my opinion anyways.. I honestly don't believe anyone's truck runs perfect anymore with 10 years of age purely "by accident". It either runs good because they really knew what they were doing and tuned it that way, or it runs poor or barely at all because they didn't.
