Kayak Rack

Has anyone put a kayak or anything else for that matter on their typhoon. Ive been googling away looking for factory attachments, but came up with nothing. I'd like to be able to dump my ranger and still be able to move my kayak if needed.

Is this your bush?
Re: Kayak Rack

Simple ! Just move the front seat all the way forward , lay down the backseat and open the rear glass insert kayak and zip tie a cheap lawn chair to the roof for your other half and enjoy the quiet tranquility of the sound of no nagging or bad navigation advice !

Re: Kayak Rack

Yakima and Thule make accessories that will either grab onto the factory rails, or will mount to the factory crossbars. They are high quality stuff, so expect to pay a bit for it. Shouldn't be terrible if you already have a factory roof rack. If you have a clean roof now, you'll be looking in the $500 range to get a Thule or Yakima setup.

Re: Kayak Rack

Yakima is best IMO. I've had/have 4 different Yakima setups on multiple vehicles. Even had one on my 94 Jimmy 4 door back in the day. Worked great.

Re: Kayak Rack

Oh yeah. If it were me I'd keep the Ranger and beat on it instead of the Ty.:2cents::tup:

Code what?
I use the foam blocks that have slight v for the hull. They are 18" long and about 8$, then I tie it down with chinook straps. They are about 25$ for two

Here are the blocks, sorry 15$ each. You will need two.

Here are the straps, these are absolutely awesome! They protect your yak from the buckle and wrap up nicely for storage.

This is all I use to transport my yaks, you will need to tie off the bow to the front of the truck for extra insurance. I go frequently and have never had issues with the straps on freeway trips for up too two hours. I haul a 14' a 13' and a 11.5'

Or you could spend money on those high dollar attachments and worry about them getting stolen when you get back to your ride.
