manifold vacuum port

i was looking to plug the vacuum port above the waterneck and rerout my vacuum lines to a different spot, what size plug would i need to seal the original port?

probly about 1/4 npt but take it out while your at the hardware store and match it up.

well i am putting in a moroso waterneck that has a provision for a temperature sender. But it seems the waterneck may bee a little too tall and would probably hit the vacuum port, so i was planning on getting one of hurydes vac fittings and extending the vacuum line over to that. But like i said, i need to seal that port. Then get a stainless upper radiator hose so that it will not rub on any of the belts.

So U R going w some of that expensive crinkle hose ? Yeh, I will probably have to use some on my Lower Rad hose due to interference w the ATR Headers. I'm sure my Upper hose will find something to run into also.

The $$$ never ends. I got HURydes $22. fitting also.

lynn if you want the ss hose on the upper make sure if you change the neck to get one that swivels or has an angle, a traight one wont let the ss stuff fit as the rubber end is to long.... i have a straight one now and some 36 inch ss in the box yet. live and learn. btw they were out of stock on the heater hose ss.

is that thing from moroso going to fit under the angle of the upper intake?

not sure but there may not be enough clearance to get the inner bolt in and out!

again im not sure....but since the ends of that hose wont fit on a stright up neck i doubt the other thing will, just get an angled chrome opolished neck or one that swivels.

one last thing, you do realize a polished aluminum angled neck is a cheaper and wont be as busy as that thing with a radiator cap on it.
Also you dont have to explain all the time why the 2nd radiator cap...

Very true. But to me its worth the convienence of having a neck that is already tapped for the sender. And knowing me, if i tried to tap it myself, i would probably fuck it up the first time and have to buy another. But if not for that i would follow your advice.

probly cost a buck at the hardware store if you used galvanized.

Why do U need the extra water Temp point ? And what is the purpose of another Filler Neck ? Our radiator isn't lower then the top of the Int Man., is it ?

I see a Polished Alum swivel neck in Summit for $28. - either 45 or 90 deg. The 45 Deg one looks like it would be convenient. I noticed that the Alum stock neck has a slight angle to it.

So how much length R U guys getting for the polished SS Upper hose - is 24" enuf ? The link didn't show any polished cap for the 24 "er. So, Mike, I guess U got the 36"er ?

Yeah i got the 36"er, and as for the radiator to manifold height, yes, the radiator sits higher, the purpose of the neck is for the teperature sender for the gauge i have mounted on the pillar i have no use for the second cap. I noticed that jc whitney sells $$ radiator hoses also for a considerably lower price, but then again, it is jc whitney.

I am also quite stubborn, but i had already purchased the neck that i showed before i started the thread. I was just looking for an answer to make everything work, i guess i can find out the hard way. We have one vote for 1/4 npt, any other opinions/answers?
 
For future refrence for anyone that may want to know, you need a 3/8 npt plug to plug the whole of the manifold port and for that waterneck, you have to get a blockoff plate with it, the filler/cap assembly is too tall and hits the manifold, it wont fit on. As for the temp sending unit, it has to be mounted in the 1/4 hole closest to the hose, it wont fit in the other 2 holes there is not enough clearance from the manifold, you will need a 1/4" npt and a 1/2" npt to plug them. Any other questions, let me know.

don't suppose you have any pictures of the holes on the back. that neck might be useful for running some coolant lines to the back of the heads... hmmmm.
 
no, i dont have any pictures, wish i did though, those 2, 1/4" holes are actually designed for just that purpose as the description says in the link i posted. you would probably only be able to use one like i said, there is maybee half an inch between the neck and the manifold.
