my rev limiter is an integral feature of the dfi gen7 box.
heres how it works,
1 button turns on front and rear line locks, 2 good pushes of brake and a 3rd with all you have gives 2000+ psi brake pressure. You also need a brake proportioning valve bypass solenoid to get this much pressure to the rear brakes. ( i wrote an article in the tech article section for this) no one has yet to try it. go figure!
this same button puts the innovative msbc (multistage boost contrroller ) into launch mode.
same button also turns on the rev limiter.
I drag the brakes to the line with the 1st 2 pumps, bringing the revs up to drag the brakes into the line for the final stage also helps to build heat in the turbo so spoolup will be quicker. ( I timed this the other nite in my shop and it made a spool time difference of 3.3 sec vs 2.3 seconds...Thats a lot)
anyway done corecttly i spool this monster exhaust haousing (1.34 ratio _ zero back pressure compared to boost) will have you against the rev limiter and your boost at pretty much wahtever you want it to be when you leave.
Without a revlimiter you will be sitting on the line forever waiting.
so anyway with all this tied to one button, you have your gas foot on the floor, holding brake (line locks bleed down some, need to find out why) and your finger on the trigger (trigger is the hurst line lock button on the stock shifter stalk). So to launch you just let go of the button, and your brake foot just kind of comes up at the same time. then the amusement ride begins.
the only part is it will take a few times doing this to coordinate your left foot to your finger. but i tell ya what. there aint no better way to launch.
foot brakeing sucks.
the reason they dont let electronics guys run in footbrake only racing from what i expereinced is the best 60ft avg i have footbraking is .100 compared to .030 avg leaving off a button.
ask mike pearce about my reactiion times when i am actually trying to hit the tree, he noticed that i had a lot of timeslips with the .030 rt on them.
Just another benefit of the rev limiter.
this should help a lot of peeps to understand how i am doing this.
as for how it sounds... yeah it will sound like shit when you hit the rev limiter but just watch that boost gauge rate of rise when you do hit the revlimiter.

Oh and recovery time is instant.
