I've tried asking on another forum, but all I get is "don't bother" answers. Thought maybe you all would more help, even if it naturally aspirated.
I have two blocks, an early, fuel pump boss, 4 barrel carb'd block, and a 97 balance shaft block.
Here's my thoughts:
Old block with new heads, or old block with original heads redone to larger valves and ported?
390 or 550 carb.
Multi port injection with a Mercruiser marine intake.
106/110 duration cam.
Roller rocker arms.
Flat top pistons.
Electric fan.
Underdrive pulleys.
What else?
I'm a "keep it simple" guy. I'm older, and want old tech.
My diesel runs a turbo, but I'd rather keep my gasser without.
I wish the fuel injection was simpler, but that crazy wire harness all over the engine really puts me off.
My favorite engines had a wires to the alternator, starter, ignition, not much more.
