Need a little help with injector sizing

Hey, I gotta a question for a friend. He is running a Mach turbo setup with the stage III heads and engine, a Comp 270 cam I believe. Compression is to be 9:1. He just got the go ahead to use a loaner Autronics SMC unit. Still finding out if its a high or low impedance unit.

I'm not positive what power he'll make, but the current target is around 500HP. I'm altering a stock Vortec manifold to accept standard injectors. We all know that manifold sucks for airflow. An edelbrock is also cooking but on the slow burner... This project was started to keep a stock look, and be sneeky enough to pass inspections, for those who have to deal with such hassels.

Using the software from Autronics site, it came up with 62 lbs/hr. Sounds good to me. I thought it would be a good idea to ask around here as you guys are used to being able to pick injectors as well as make power. Things S-10 guys are not accustom to.

Any help is appreciated.

Need a little help with injector sizing

Thanks Sam for posting the question for me. Hope I can get the much needed help from the guys here. If additional info is needed on my setup, please ask away. PEACE>Tony:infinity:

500hp at the crank i assume.

62lb/hr x 6 = 372lb/hr / .5 (bsfc of .5) = 744hp at 100% dc ; 80% dc would give you 595hp supported

50lb/hr x 6 = 300 / .5 = 600hp at 100% dc ; or 480hp at 80% dc

75lb/hr x 6 = 450lb/hr / .5 = 900hp at 100% dc ; or 720hp at 80% dc

Keep in mind, this is still at the crank. If you dyno and make 500 at the wheels, you are probably making 650 at the crank or so.

The reason I gave you the 50lb/hr and the 75lb/hr ratings is that the 50lb/hr injector is currently the most commonly available high impedance injector. The 75lb/hr is the most common next size up in injector flow rating, and is LOW impedance. Both of these injectors are made by Delphi.

I'd use the 75's if you could; they are a good injector and you won't have too many problems tuning them.

Thanks for the info.It helped alot with choosing the injector.Thinking of going with a 65lb/hr low inpedance unit sold by PTE.
They sell for $62.60 a piece.They should give me 700hp at 100% dc and 624hp at 80% dc. PEACE>Tony

...with the LOW impedance injectors, I will need an ECU modification, correct? Who/how much$$?

TIA.

E-Rue at Turbotime has some drivers ordered you could ask him but he is camping in the mountains drinking tequlia this weekend :)
