Need Help Identifying Parts

I just bought a fake Typhoon. It is an 88' S10 Blazer with a 92' Typhoon drivetrain in it. It has a bunch of aftermarket parts and has been hacked at quite a bit. I'm looking at putting the engine in my 95' S10 Blazer and I'm trying to figure out what everything is before I pull the parts out of the truck. It has a Turbonetics turbo but not sure what model it is. MSD ignition and accel distributor. But other then that stuff, I'm not sure what make everything else is. Any help identifying these parts would be great so I know where to look on the net to get info.

Looks like either an ATR or Conley upper intercooler (black ribbed item on top). A bunch of other weirdness under the hood, but can't identify the parts.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Ya, this thing looks like a rats nest of wiring and plumbing under the hood. I'm just not sure what everything is. I have a pretty good idea of what is stock but identifying the aftermarket add ons is confusing me and I have tried searching these forums for answers too but can't find much. And unfortunately the guy I bought the truck from really didn't know anything about it either as he wasn't the one that put any of this stuff on it. I know the intercooler isn't factory, as well as the plumbing including the pump which is mounted by the oil filter which you can see in the one picture and the guy added a second cooler (looks like a tranny cooler) behind the grille that is plumbed with the factory style cooler that is still behind the bumper as well.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Sounds like more ATR parts. They offered a larger intercooler pump, a wiring kit for it, and the additional heat exchanger that mounts behind the grille.

Aftermarket BOV, oil catch there cause he went away from the stock intake. Never seen that exhaust style before.

:shocked!: That's some crazy ass wiring and plumbing you've got going on.

So... What's ORIGINAL on that truck? Some of that shit is re-doo-doo-diculous.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

I know, this thing is quite the mess. I just want to be able to figure everything out about all that has been done on it so I can research the parts and determine what is worth keeping and what really isn't necessary before I put this engine in my 95' S10 Blazer.

The wiring is going to be another nightmare. I'm being told this truck is running a Moates computer (which I haven't confirmed yet) and the wiring has been all hacked up and spliced a bunch of different times and a whole bunch of aftermarket wiring and connections have been done.

As for the headers, I haven't been able to figure out what make they are either. I would definitely like to put something else on my truck when I transplant this over. I'm thinking of just looking for a set of stock manifolds to run if I can find some.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

where did the truck come from? Kinda weird they moved the ABS and the 93 roof rack to match the interior? whats the date on the decal on the wiper motor?

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

I would recommend editing your pictures and putting arrows to the parts that you can't identify. There are a host of parts in the pictures most of which are pretty easy to figure out (like the ABS computer).

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Well, just looking at identifying the add-on parts the previous owners put on this engine. Not really concerned with anything other then drivetrain as the engine and related parts are what I'm taking out of this truck and nothing else really. The picture with the ABS module in it was just me trying to show the coolant pump and the oil breather catch can.

But in this next picture, I would like to know what the thing is that I have the arrow pointing too and the purpose of it.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

I'm no expert, but it looks like the IAC my Volvos use. I wonder if the other end of the hose attaches to where the PCV valve should go.

The unit in the picture is a idle air control solenoid we use them on
engines to adjust idle speed or if A/C is on to raise the idle rpm
normaly the SYTY comes with one fitted under the TB !!
Also what i can see from the posted pics are these parts - ATR or
Conley upper cooler - twin Turbonectics wastegate - MDS 6AL ignition box-
oil catch can - manual adjustable controller for fan or pump - aftermarket
heat exchanger coolant water pump - need more pics to see !!!

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

I had the throttle body off this past weekend but didn't pay attention to whether or not it had an IAC on it. I have seen the same style IAC's on Saab's as well. Just curious as to why someone would wire one of them up to this engine when it should have one in the TB. I will have to check later this week when I go back to my shop and work on it.

Re: Need Help Identifying Parts

Well, I looked at the throttle body this weekend and it looks like there is no IAC on it. So does anyone know why someone would have switched it out for this style? Is there usually a problem with the IAC's on this engine?
