Need transmission ASAP! Bell housing broken!

I smoked the transmission in my 131k mile (orig trans, built motor) Typhoon last week. I finally got a chance to pull it out over the weekend and was hoping to bring it to my race trans guy and have him beef it up for me. Unfortunately when I pulled it out I noticed that the bell housing of the trans was split from ear to ear... I don't even know how it didn't fall out onto the ground. What are my options for picking up a new street/strip trans that will handle my mods?? RPM? Then I will have to deal with shipping charges and my core is obviously no good. Is there any place or anyone who has a trans case laying around? Any other options to picking up a new street/strip trans locally to NJ?? Any help would be great! Thanks! do we run a 700r4 trans or 4L60 in our trucks? I'm going to make some phone calls.

Post up a pic. I broke the corner off of a brand new rebuilt trans,took it to a welding shop they fixed it for $50 good as new.

Matt, you should of called me, haha check these guys out. Eric is the owner I believe and from what I remember talking to him he can build you a trans from stock to straight up race. And they are close enough to drive to. Check it out!

Nick I can't stand dealing with Dynotech. Since the original owner left its been a nightmare for me trying to deal with them. I will give them a shout and see what they can do for a trans. Might be worth a phone call!

I could sell you a case. If I were you though, I might shoot a PM over to Renz, he recently offered me his blown trans. But you would get all the hard parts in there and a build able core. Dont throw your Valve body away either. What kind of power do you make? Ive only seen one trans ever break like that and it had 600hp in font of it.

I'm not making much power, some where around 400hp I would guess. I recently discovered a broken motor mount on driver side of motor when I pulled the engine last night. I'm positive that was the culprit that caused the case to crack!

Sure looks like what would happen if the case was over-stressed without it being installed. Can't say I've ever seen this damage without it being collision-related, however.

BUT. There's a reason GM puts that heavy, beefey, expensive aluminum cover on there with 9MM bolts.

Most other pass cars get a plastic cover with sheetmetal screws.

I didn't have the cover installed, but I'm pretty sure the bell housing broke because of the broken motor mount on the driver side. That might have stressed it for a while. I didn't realize the mount was broken till recently.

A stage three tranny is probably more than i'll ever need for the power I'm making. My truck is a daily driver so it might be over kill. I also don't know if I can wait a month for it, im borrowing a friends car for the time being so I've got to get it together asap. Just curious, how much are you looking to get for it?
