never properly introduced myself

hi, im Dylan, im 19 from NE kansas. i work as a machinist and still live with my parents  some of you may know me from a 3bar issue... but id rather not get into that.

I've been a member here since July 07 but never really introduced myself. ever since i learned about syty's, i've been almost obsessed with them, even before i've seen one in person(just videos). But i tried to read up on them as much as i could befor i bought one.

I ended up, on this forum, finding a 93 Ty in wichita, ks, so on Sept 22, 2007 i went down there with a friend and bought it right there for $5300. she was not the best running thing out there, but it sure was worth it. the main problem it had was while cruising, in D or OD at 1950rpm or higher, she would, what seemed to be missfire or something, so i didn't drive it any faster than that untill i figured out why.

i ended up doing the engine code diagnostic thing with the paperclip and the MAP and TPS where low on voltage, so i replaced those and the missfire seemed to go away :)

when i got her, she had 3" borola exhaust, lowerd, and a bad allignment :( plus there is what is supposed to be a ALDL cable already hooked up in the glove box. I'm a lil confused about it, so i'll post something about it in a few days.

What i have done to it since includes: reroute IC lines, upgrade IC pump and it was already hotwired to the IGN wheni got it. replaced a really bad idler arm, replaced heater core, 160 thermostat, turbo-IC pipe :p, replaced ball joints, got the fog lights workin with a new switch, replaced a broken mid console hinge...

things in my new stuff pile, but not put on: walbro fuel pump, AFPR, fuel filter, spark plugs & wires, new coil, tie rods and sleves, set of stock rims/ wheels on them... oh and a 3bar MAP...dont worry about that for now  lol

fyi, i dont need to be reminded about searching, i've learned my lesson, and i'll ask more questions

i would like to hear from anyone with some recomendations on what i should put on/buy/do first. THANKS

Welcome to the site. Before you get too carry away install that fuel pump, AFPR and the other stuff you have. I guess I need to read about the 3 bar. For plug I have found that the NGK UR6IX part # 7348 work really great in our trucks. I have 3 year now on these plugs and they work just like they did on day 1. I just pass a smog test on Monday with the same plugs.

Re: never properly introduced myself

I might have given you a hard time in 3bar post, but Welcome.

We were all new owners at one time. Hate to say it but I have been around now for 10 years so somethings that are natural to me, I know for a new person are very confusing.

Good luck.

Re: never properly introduced myself

Welcome Dylan.... looks like you're bringing one that was on it's way out back to life again... that's cool!
Sounds like the parts you've got left to still put on are a good next step.... one thing you might want to do, when you do your sparkplug change, is a compression test...simple test that gives you reassurances as you make other mods down the road. Maybe get your differential and transfer case fluids changed too.
You can go through the pics via the link in my signature... shows the stuff I've done to mine.... I'm a one-year newbie too.
Good luck! The trucks are fun but can be frustrating at times... all the guys here on the forum are great, and as you've discovered, sometime show no mercy! ;)

Welcome to the site, sounds like you got a pretty good deal on that Ty.. just give it time and it will be tuned correctly and don't jump the gun!! It can be costly.
