cheap/crap sauce.
If you haven't ever sat in some of these seats....do yourself a favor and go find some and test them out. Survey says you won't like them.

Re: new after school project

find yourself some used Corbeau's or somethin. $200/seat won't get you a great seat in general...especially if you want adjustable.

Re: new after school project

pick up a set of Saab 9000 Aero seats; they can be had for $400 a set (just barely sold a set; actually bought a full front and rear set for $270 and while back!!!) and they're made by Recaro. PIMP, comfy, heated, power memory seats that look AWESOME!!!! Without a doubt, the best stock seats ever put in a car! (my opinion, but if you know one better, bring it on....)

Re: new after school project

Those Saab seats are PIMP. Is there a specific model year to look for to find these? Or will 9000 Aero be enough? What else would you need? The seat tracks, wiring and...? I like the look of the Ty seats but, they are too short IMO. I'm not really tall just 6' but the top of the seat seems really low.

Most comfortable stock seats I've sat in to date are in the Subaru SVX. They aren't as adjustable as the Saab seats, but they seem to fit perfectly. McLaren F1 and Köenigsegg CCR got Tempurpedic seat material from what I recall. The McLaren seats were custom-made to fit the owners.

Re: new after school project

just a thought
a lot of the S10 guys around here are using reupolstered (from kits) fiero seats
i did mine with cleaner seat covers and made a few internal changes to change the shapes of the padding. Oh ya and there are speakers in the head rest..

Re: new after school project

I had the fiero seats in my targa top'd blazer.
They are awesome with the speakersin the headrests and have factory adjustability.

My Ty got a used set of Corbeaus.
I would not buy those cheap ass Matrix seats.

They either aren't gonna be comfy or aren't gonna hold up or both.

1993-1997 9000 AERO only. I think you might need to do a little modding, but it should be pretty straight forward. To power them you need a fused 30A 12V feed (10gauge), a smaller 12V trigger to power the relays when the ignition is turned on, and a ground. For the heaters, Saab built in all kinds of feedback to the car to let the car know the seats are on, and if they are shorted out, they will not kick on; stuff like that. There are about 5-6 wires that run the seat heaters. For a nice set of fronts, plan on $400-500. They came in black, tan and gray. Its common to find the drivers seat in poor shape due to the large bolster and lots of getting in/out, so new covers can be purchased from www.saabstuff.com
