well it has arrived! this the new propshaft that dynotech is making for our trucks... looks pretty eff'n meaty! lets see how long it takes to break this one!

i dont have a part number, just tell him you want a propshaft for a syty, and say you want the new one, cause they still make the old one with the CV boot.

i have one of those in the shop and have no use for it, I will sell it to ya if I dont hear form Al in the next few days. dont need it cuz I have a warranty with my ty so if one breaks on the sy jsut switch em out and take the ty in :D

i just got mine (from dynotech) but i got the normal one- same price, they guy on the phone said it wouldnt fit without some fabrication, if it does fit w/o anfy fab im pissed,

i just had one made from my truck thay looks the same. i got mine done for 325.00. high speed balanced and all. if some body wants to post a pic of it ill send it to you. i dont know how to post pics int the forum.

Why would DynoTech design a propshaft that doesnt "Bolt-In". So guy's that have the new shaft pictured above, Does it realy "Bolt-In"?

Two words: BAD ASS! Will definitely get one of those if and when I snap the stocker. How much more does that piece weigh over stock? Hate adding weight to my truck.

i beg to differ with cutting the shifter bracket. i had a bravada shaft in my sy, and that thing was thicker than the new one i just got. all i had to do was slightly bend the bracket because it was rubbing on the shaft.

Jeremy its been awhile since ive had the stock shaft out to know how much it weighs, but going off of the UPS packing label, the new one weighs 22lbs

Guys,

One of the previous posts we had on the aftermarket propshafts kinda' concluded that the CV joint was there to prevent vibration. Supposedly when it was replaced w a U joint, alotta the guys got vibration.

So, what's the opinion now ? I haven't heard that these shafts break at the CV, but rather at the double u joint.

The CV's don't break, they just rip the boot usually. The double cardan is what usually busts, which the new dynotec shaft retains.

I've had a Gilbert propshaft for 4-5 years now without a problem.

IMHO, 10x better than new Dynotech shaft and cheaper too.. It comes complete with instructions on how to change the pinion flange to a U-joint type setup and details on how to MOD the shifter linkage. But one less joint and alot more cash in my wallet is a GOOD thing IMHO.

I installed it (before my motor went south) and never noticed any vibration upto and past 100+mph.

The CV joint setup is for 4x4's etc with some angle between the Xfer case and the front diff, this isnt the case on our trucks, last time I checked it was almost a straight shot with very little deflection.

Save the bank and get the Gilbert shaft as pictured in the above post.
