New Fuel Pump External VS. Internal?

When upgrading the fuel pump I know that Walbro seems to be the one everybody is using on their Sy/Ty's but the in-tank pump for the Ty seems to be some work on the install. Is the external Walbro GSS340M along with a plug and play unit just as good as an internal Warbro? It looks like the install is easier so what's the difference?
Thanks,
Eric

That's what I figured but I just wanted to make sure. I might as well go with the internall pump then.
Thanks,

i think you can handle dropping the tank. i did it myself and the only other thing i have ever done to a vehichle was change the oil before this.

Yea, it's not as bad as it looks. It can be done with one person. Best if you can run all the gas out first. My pump went our with a full tank. Had to siphon it all out. I hate the taste of of high octane.

yeah, its pretty simple. I think the hardest part was getting it back up there all lined up right. But if you have two people, just have the other person hold it in place while you guide it. Not a problem at all. Took about an hour and a half for me too.

Internal vs External FP

Internal vs External FP

I bought and was ready to install a Bosch External pump, but saw
the following problems :

1.) There was really no good place to mount it.
2.) I would have had to fabricate my own mounting hardware and
suction line.
3.) It would be unprotected , exposed to the elements.
4.) The suction line would be long and elevated above the pump,
which is not a good thing to do to any pump.
5.) I was wondering how U would prime it and whether it would stay
primed.

The only advantage was that it would be easy to get at. So, anyway, I
sent it back and went w a double pumper - probably an overkill.

While you're in there, you might want to look at http://www.racetronix.com/product/RX-TY-GSS340M-FPKG/Racetronix-SyTy_Pump_Kit.html too. It's designed to provide more power at WOT (which equates to more fuel), but I did it because I didn't want to stress the stock electrical system even more. It's quite common to need to upgrade the ECM-B fuse when a Walbro is installed. The Racetronix kit uses the ECM-B circuit only to flip a relay, which allows the pump to get power directly from the alternator. I'm sure you could make something like this yourself, but their kit is 100% plug 'n' play and very professional.
