I don't know much but from what I understand, you have to have a chip calibrated specifically for your injectors.. and to the best of my knowledge there are only chips for the stock injectors and the 50# injectors (that chip is in beta testing). Anyone else using injectors of any other size, I would have to classify them as one the following:

- lucky [their truck runs good, or lucky they haven't blown it up yet]
- using a completely different ECU than the stock ECM (SpeedPro, DFI)
- truck running very poorly compared to what it should be running if properly tuned

I don't think you can take a chip for the stock injectors (Such as the 3-bar Ultimate Chip) and use larger injectors on it and have your truck continue to operate properly. Can someone clear this up?

Tooky, you forgot one classification

Those people who have custom calibrated chips for different sized injectors

yes you must have a custom calibrated chip for the 50# injectors....I have several programs that BG has written and I would feel free to help anybody to move on up...as long as BG didnt have a problem with it..these are all for use with the ultimate box and display

kb makes a 40# chip, but why in god's name you'd run a chip that doesnt handle knock retard no one knows. It might make it faster till the little flames inside the cylinder squish a rod or two.

I am running 55# injectors. If Brian's 50# chips are in the beta stage, I would say mine is in the alpha stage, but still looks promising.

Hey Jim, are your 55's the same low impedence style that Gn guys like to use?

If so did you mod the driver to work with the 55's? Who did that for ya?

Just curious,

Yes, they are low impedance. I did the driver mod.

Hey Jim, I'm very intested in the 55lb injectors. What did it take for you to do the driver mod?

I understand that in the quad 4 application out ecms used peak and hold injectors. How hard was it to change or reconfigure the drivers.

Any idea what you might charge to do this?

Do you have to rewire the ecm harness to use the extra driver?

I have a ton of questions about this

Seems like the GN guys take those injectors into the 10's.

The first step was to get some help from Gorden Jennings and Mike V. Mike set me up with some instructions from Gorden. The basic idea is to take apart the ecm, remove the heat sink from the injector drivers, desolder the drivers, install new drivers, put the heat sink back on, and reassemble. The hardest part was finding the new drivers. The part number I'm using is a Fairchild semiconductor HUFA76429P3. It's supposed to be able to handle 44 amps.

I have not changed any other wiring. I did blow an ecm-1 fuse, once. Normally, I'm opposed to putting in a bigger fuse, but I stuck a 15 amp fuse in and no problems since.

My email is leroy@sunflower.com if you need more info. I don't always check in here regularly.

Yes sir, we carry the 50# injectors, as well as keep them in stock.
We sell them for $399.00 for a set of six. They are also flow tested and matched free of charge.
Hope this helps.
