Re: New Syclone owner in the UK
Good evening all,
Yes I'm the captain of the above Syclone!
Thanks for the post Mark as I've been meaning to introduce myself for a while.
As per the title I'm the new owner of Syclone 2123 which I have had for a couple of months now and have started to find my feet with her.
I have had an interest in these trucks for probably 9 or 10 years but have only just been able to justify ownership now I'm married with a house and no kids!
It is only by chance that I bought this truck as I was 12 hours away from buying Sy #1947 which was sold before I got there.
It was actually thanks to this site that I got the number to call the seller of my truck as the Ebay auction had finished and I couldn't find the details. I could remember the truck VIN and searched for 2123 on here and powercat6 had posted the auction text and more importantly the phone number. A couple of viewings later and the deal was done. The truck required a little paint on the bonnet, scuttle, roof and passenger wing which I have had done. Through doing this I also stumbled upon a Ty owner in Bristol as he owned the bodyshop - what are the chances of that!
As for my truck it was exported from Florida and suspect that it was there all its life. There is a stick in the rear window (Bronze tinted ooohh) that references highway state troopers 1993. I would like to know a little more about the history of my truck if anyone can help? Full Vin is 1GDCT14Z6M8802123 - has anyone got free carfax access they could run for me? Any info on this truck would be greatly appreciated.
It has been in the UK since 2006, I'm the 4th UK owner and has only completed less than 4k as the speedo is about to tick over to 32k. I'm really pleased with the truck but have a few little things to change. Firstly obviously the disgusting wood overlay. I have removed all traces however it was glued and screwed so all dash parts are sadly riddled with tiny self tapper holes. After that I have the original rims which need a refurb as the 3 spoke AM Alloys are not the correct offsets and look nasty.
Other than these tasteful mods the truck is stock.
I have run DM and found high IAT which was due to seized CAC pump. I have a replacement on order from a Ford Focus RS which I hope will fit. Also one of the PS hoses gave up which I have ordered a replacement from Rockauto along with some servicing bits. I believe I have a slight over boost as I have a code 31 & DM is holding a short period of boost at 15.2 which I assume is the standard MAP sensors highest reading. I have only hit this boost once in the 200 miles I have driven so next job will be to give the waste gate a once over to ensure no damage is bing caused.
Plans are piller mount boost gauge, 3 bar, PLX wide band, code $59 and the general free mods ic pipes etc along with a good service including fluids etc.
Also to revive the UK SYTY community and try and get some trucks in the same place for one of the UK American car shows. I have been in contact with 5 other owners and believe there are few UK syty owners lurking on here which I'm going to try and contact.
What I have already noticed is that there is a really good community sprit with the trucks with people more than willing to help others in need which I think is great.
Yes I know this thread is useless without photos..... I'm currently struggling to find day time to get a couple of photos to post up, as soon as I have some I'll post but to be honest other than a set of UK plates and a Tonneau cover it looks identical to the photos in the Sportsmachines registry.
Okay enough of my waffle,
Cheers
