New Turbo

I was wondering if the STG1 bolt on turbo would be a good addition with the parts that I am currently installing.

Now installing:,
RPM Custom 16-1 Multi Chip
3 Bar Map sensor
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Fuel Pressure Reg
160 Stat

All other maint has been performed on the truck, any imput would be of great help.

Re: New Turbo

Here's a link to a thread that has some pics of my install... a lot more pics on my photobucket page (link in sig).

So far I'm happy with it, but still tuning with Code59... you have to realize that when you start making these mods, the first thing you should get is a datalogger (datamaster or TunerProRT).... you won't find a chip that will magically make it run like it should - it takes a lot of tuning to get the motor dialed in with the right parts. On the other hand, you're somewhat lucky cuz I've done this same install and have a BIN for a chip, over on the Code59 site, that runs pretty darn nice.

You'll probably run out of injectors, so you'll probably have to end up going with bigger injectors to fuel the motor.

Be prepared to have some patience in making it work... but, it's a lot of fun!

Re: New Turbo

Thanx for reply, how large would you recommend on injector size.

Also what data system is the most easy to use.

Re: New Turbo

Just to keep things clear and eliminate any misunderstanding we are no longer using the same style turbo WYOSyclone mentioned in his post. To make a long story short the manufacture does not have them readily available, and was leaning towards discontinuing them. Therefore it meant more work for us, and more cost to the customer.

Our new turbos use a standard T3 5 bolt turbine housing (which is available in 2 different A/R trims unlike the previous ones), and a 35mm swing valve wastegate assembly with ported turbine housing and heavy duty wastegate actuator.. Here is the new adaptor flange:

We have installed several of these at the shop in the last month, and each one went really smooth. The downpipe must be pushed back 1/2"-3/4" into the catalytic converter then re-tightened. The compressor housing can be re-positioned in any direction, and the actuator mount now has an adjustable bracket to allow the wastegate to be mounted in various positions when re-clocking the compressor housing for different intercooler piping. No welding, special fabrication or tools should be required. The requirements are a 3" air inlet (cobra elbow, etc) and the installation of the new braided steel oil drain line. The water cooled center section is also eliminated for most turbos which means plugging the front of the intake manifold and the block down by the starter.

I like TTS DataMaster , I wrote an article on where to buy the parts and how to get it connected: How to Get Your Stock Truck Deep in the 13's

For the injectors it depends on whether you will run high octane and what boost level. The stock red top 28# injectors are good to about 20, maybe 23 PSI before they are at the limit. If all you're running is pump gas boost levels you have no reason to upgrade.

In fact don't upgrade your injectors unless the truck runs at least 12.0s or faster.
