New Typhoon owner in Ky

Hey Guys!! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Donnie and I just bought a 1992 Typhoon #0449 this past Friday. I am not new to Turbo V6 crowd though. I just sold my 87 GN a few months back that I owned for nearly 10 years. It went from basically bone stock in the beginning to a 606rwhp street monster that I'm pround to say I built myself. I did alot of prototype testing for the GN crowd including the Translator Pro, Extender Extreme Pro chips and the newest scan tool the PowerLogger.

My Ty is pretty much stock but I hope to get my Typhoon close to what the GN was power-wise someday. Right now I hope to get my Ty in the 12's by spring. Eventhough the GN and SyTy's are similar, it seems that the SyTy are a little more finicky about certain things but I'm up to the challenge. I'm really glad to be here and I will have alot of questions I'm sure. I'm very happy to be on board!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!!

Lancaster is 26 miles due south of Lexington, right down US 27.

I checked out the previous 2 owners before I bought the Ty, didn't find any surprises. Truck ran flawlessly on the 11 hour drive home ( drove straight through too :D ) and got 18.94 mpg on top of that. I am just pleased to death with the Ty. It's not perfect but is in great near original condition but nothing a little TLC wont take care of. The headliner is sagging, which I don't believe that the good General made a headliner that didn't end up sagging at some time or another, the paint is 20/20 but in real good shape for it's age. Truck runs great, shifts great and the interior is in very, very good condition. Did I mention that I was very happy with this truck? ;)

I really appreciate that, and I'm sure I'll be needing help and advice. I have already checked out the downpipe you make, I hope to pick one up pretty soon. Do you usually keep them in stock or do you make them per order?

Actually I really don't make them anymore. Was a 1 shot deal. Too much work to build them 1 at a time, so the GP was the only real way. But then with a GP you have even more work.

Ah man, I have Christmas $$$ coming :D I was hoping to pick one up. That's ok though. If you do anymore of the dp's in the future, I'll be first on the list :tup:

Nice meetin' ya Donnie! Welcome Aboard :tup: These Sy/Ty's are quite the breed. Alot of messing and fussin' with em, but you get alot back in return for your hard work and effort. Iam far from a pro, but i have learned a ton of stuff from mingling with the best of the best when it comes to these rigs. Alot of smart mechanics out here. This forum is a must when you own a sy/ty. Its the full owners manual right here. I would be lost without all these good folks. Anyways, Keep her in check, and "Rev on the Redline". Gone. :p

Thanks Alot!! You are right, alot of smart folks here not to mention everybody has been so nice. That's the way it should be, a tight knitt family. I know coming over from the Buick community everybody stuck together but here the family feels more like immediate family, very close and standing side by side. I like that! :tup:

:D Yeah, I have set a limit for myself though :rotf: I am going to keep it simple for the most part. I'm going to do a turbo, afpr, injectors and 3" dp. I've been checking out Code59 and going to do a chip.

Do you remember if the truck has Walbro 340? If not that'll be on the list too.
Mid to low 12's is my self imposed limit, of course I said the same about my GN too.

Yeah, I really love this truck and am so glad I was able to get it. It was also great meeting you and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and hope you have a Happy New Year too!!

Im pretty sure the pump is stock, but I never checked that.. Thanks for the Christmas wishes, It was a good one. Very nice meeting you also.. I'll be checking out your build as it comes along! good luck lol
