Just thought I would intoduce myself. I'm located in Bowling Green, KY. I'm getting ready to get my first TY. I have had plenty of fast cars before but none turbo. I'm trading my 89 Mustang LX for a 1993 TY. Here is a picture of the stang I'm trading and a picture of the TY I'm getting. Any help on what to look for and what problems I might have with a SY/TY would be great.

Welcome.I'm right down the road from you .I know a little bit about the trucks,
The Ty picture isn't showing up.
*EDIT*
Here it is.Looks like a nice truck.The rear axle is off center,and it has a 3 gauge pod and ATR cold air intake.Mirrors have been painted."GMC Truck" decal is missing on the tailgate.
Hopefully the northern salt hasn't ate into it too bad.

Main problems are the weak trans,detonation,and overboost.Once you get the truck,give me a holler,and we'll run datamaster on it/see what's up.

Hey Jimmy, No you're not that far from me. Not sure if I'm going to get it. I'm not feeling to good about the deal. Here is his add and whats done to the Phoon.

I also have a new bigger Garret 60- M24 turbo and headers and down pipe are also available new in box they were done by ANS performance and cost 3500 and change will let go with the truck for an additional fee.

He wants me to deliever my car to him to make up the difference in price. He has it on e-bay for buy it now $14,000 and top bid is $8900. What do you think its worth? Oh yea 70,000 miles.

The turbo,DP,and headers probably cost close to 3k new.If the truck is super MINT,it may very well be worth 14k by itself.

s there anything I should look for to show signs of problems? I'm ew to the turbo thing. All my other cars have been Nitrous equiped

The main thing is performace.If it doesn't impress you,there is something wrong with it.It could simply need plugs,or the motor could be on it's last legs. The 1-2 shift should be VIOLENT.

You should ask around on here and see if someone is local to the truck that can check it out with you.

I'd look real carefully for rust.For that kinda $ you should get a 100% perfect truck.This picture shows a potential problem on the bottom of the doors

I just did a carfax on it and it came back clean. Its been a northern truck since 1996. Miles match up.

I hope you get a truck. It would be great to have more in the area. For 14k and 70k miles it would need to be MINT even if it does have alot of mods. Mods don't really raise the value of the truck, it just raises what we are willing to pay. The ty will be alot harder to work on compared to the stang, at least until you learn the tricks.

That is a gross understatement. Jimmy's knowledge of Typhoons (to include their history, potential, and past information......if posted on this site) is impressive to say the least. Go get the Ty and welcome to the community.

the cladding looks like it all lines up and the body looks to be in great shape. get that truck, you will happy you did, and get together with jimmy, a stand up guy here on the board.
