Oil gauge not working

The oil and temp gauges never worked in my Sy, so I recently replacecd the temp sensor and got the gauge working. I then decided to tackle the oil which was a total bitch to get to. I replaced the oil sender at the rear of the block after of course having to use an easy out to remove the brass unit which broke, but that's another story. After starting it the oil gauge stays pegged at the very bottom like it always did. The rest of them work great including the temp, so is there a common problem with these? The original owner had a bogus under dash three pod that always shakes and leaks as well. Is there perhaps a fuse? The wire and plug from what I can see looks intact. The engine is pumping good pressure according to the afteermarket gauge.

You sure it hasnt flipped around and is now UNDER the stop pin?

If its not that, could be electrical anywhere between... the gauge cluster connects kinda poorly into the connector that it gets its signals from, so you may try that as a last resort.

Wow!! I went outside and checked to find it is stuck under the pin. How did this happen and what can I do to get it where it's supposed to belong?

It happens all the time. For a permant fix you need to take the dash apart flip the needle back, then, either remove the bottom pin or get a second pin, drill and put it at the top of the gauge to keep the needle from flipping over. HTH

Do you have the part number for the water temp sensor.. no one at the local shops can find the right one for the head. I just got the other one, which is externally grounded, I thought I would just use that one and run a ground for it.

Drives me crazy that my gage does not work.

I finally found the receipt. I got it from Advance Auto and it's made by GP Sorensen part #TSU155 for $13.49 with a one year replacement. I wish I would have looked closer to see that my oil gauge was pegged. I went through a big hassle putting in a new sending unit only to find out the thing had gone around and pegged itself. Good luck
