it looks like a small piece was taken out. At around 6 seconds, you see a small black plastic chunk in the air.

Good eyes Norm. I watched it again and saw the piece fly up in the air. Right near the end of the clip, I can see the missing piece from his DS rear corner (bottom area). Still not bad for what happened. I am guessing he got tagged in the wheel and then spun.
