OMG!!!! Horror Story

Well, my truck WAS nearly complete after 3 months of 'here and there' body work and paint when I had time. My "buddy" did the lion share of the disassembly and repairs while my wrist was healing.
A very, very long story short, he is refusing to finish the truck and re-assemble it, even though he has already been paid for it. My truck is in 31 pieces. And I have no idea where he put all of them. Plus there is no glass in the truck.

Now I have to take the day off work tomorrow, go to municipal court and file for small claims, empty my other truck out to fit some parts in it. Call a tow truck to come pick up the 2 dozen other pieces, and have a police civil standby the whole time, and then serve him the summons while they are there.....

I am praying I can find all my parts and hardware. The fasteners are a big concern.
Don't know what happened to this guy, but he has gone completely off his rocker. Not looking forward to this!

I think his life is basically falling apart, and he doesnt give a crap about anything, but that is why his life is falling apart! I dont know what cased all this, but he has slowly gotten slower about doing his work. He's finally to the point of not doing it at all. After 3 1/2 months, my patience is gone.

Steve, can u get me a handgun with no serial# on it? That would help a ton....:rotf:

Sounds like your best off to get out of there regardless. The last thing you want is him working on your truck when he doesn't want to. Sorry to hear this, hopefully things turn around for you.

You just need to have a weekend wrenchfest with the locals to assemble her back together.

Hell, if ya got me a plane ticket, some food....beer...energy shots..we could put a huge dent in assembly :)

I could of sworn that this truck, or the one on your avatar was up for sale on seattle's craigslist a few months back... In fact, Im pretty sure of it.

I wanted to purchase the stock oem wheels that came with the vehicle (aftermarket wheels were on the truck), but you,.. or was it your "good" buddy didn't wanna part with em for some unknown reason.. Probably wanted to sell everything as a complete package,.. I completely understand.

Did you realize he was trying to sell your parts?? Or was that you???

As far as the court process.. dont hold your breath.. cant take months, or possibly up to a year to get a civil judgement, or any action from the police department to get your stuff back.

Bottom line,.. Dont "EVER" give a Junkie access to your vehicle. Simple as that. Lesson learned.

Later on in life you will finally realize that most people will use you, abuse you, or benefit from you.

Friends, How many of us have them?.. :myclone:

Re: OMG!!!! Horror Story

Update: I stopped in today and was pleasantly surprised to find that my truck was getting all new glass installed and the bed put back on. Hopefully this is a permanent thing and not a just a "good" day.

Re: OMG!!!! Horror Story

This is the reason why my truck has taken so long to get painted. Been dealing w/ a friend of the family for over 20 years on paint & bodywork. Lately he has done crappy work and he "didn't have time to deal with" my truck. Kept telling me to "call back in a couple of weeks". Work is work, and I wasn't getting any breaks on price.

Re: OMG!!!! Horror Story

The fact is and I am not sure why everybody has not seen this. There are chemicals in automotive paint, and transmission fluid that make anybody that works with them flaky, crazy, a thief, etc. Just last month it was discovered that same chemical is in the water supply in some parts of Illinois also.

So as future reference and to help my fellow syty folks out be warned of anybody working with

  • Automotive Paint
  • Transmission Fluid
  • Drinks water in the Rockford IL area.
They are subject to cause you a lot of grief.
