Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

I was able to resue the rubber frame mounts, I just used different bolts. Another recommendation I have is to use lock nuts or locktite (on fender bolts). .

Same thing in my setup but i used the energy susp ones

Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

Id honestly say he took $60 worth of homedepot square alum tubing , and sold it for 400-450 .Then he wouldnt spend more than 20 for a headlight bucket . I havent really spoken my mind much about it much , but ever since the support latch broke off on the highway doing 75mph and my hood flew up and smashed my windshield and roof , ive been real bitter lately .

......

I remember seeing the pics of yours installed and I was NOT happy with the alignment of your headlights ... it is actually what kept me from installing mine for so long :squint: ---

Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

My truck is in the bodyshop right now getting accident damage repaired. They are replacing the core support with my C. KEITH support.

The manager was weary about the setup, and expects problems to be had.

I told him I would ask you guys for tips. PLEASE let me know of anything you encountered while setting this up, or if it is just a simple replacement that just looks a lot different than the stock support :)

Thank you SO much. Its in the shop NOW so quick replies are appreciated!!! ---

Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

It's no where close to being plug and play. At least mine wasn't. There's a lot of work to getting it in. Nothing that can't be taken care of....but they'll need to be able to tig aluminum and stuff like that.

Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

Try to get them to lock in on a set price . By the hour them figuring out how to mount everything off those 4 little tabs could add up quick . The horn , extending grounds for lights , charcoal canister , radiator , and a/c condenser all have to be massaged in somehow . Making sure the front clip is perfectly aligned before they drill the bottom frame mounts is crucial .

I took forever lining up mine measuring different angles and looking hard and swear its still off a little bit .

Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

Great advice. I may just have them keep the stock one in , if its reusable, lol. ---

What ever it takes!!
Re: Paging anyone running the Chris Keith core support setup...

I'm going to install a safety chain to catch the doors if it ever breaks that tab. Even though I'm going to have another reinforced tab wielded. Just in case.
