Michael,

Got the chip today that I sent to Waller.

Just wanted to "touch base" w/ you regarding the 2 programs you sent me, etc.

Please call me at your earliest convenience: 803-502-0770.

Thanks!

Re: Paging Michael Hood

The EPROM is the v11 Ultimate with a little more fuel in the throttle tip-in areas. The EEPROM is the v6 Ultimate. I didn't have a stock truck in the yard when I did that chip, so I was only able to verify that the chips fired up and idled with my truck (60's, cam, big turbo, etc...). I told John that it might need more fine tuning, but to let me know if either chip provided any improvement. I don't reburn Ultimate chips anymore so this was more of a favor to John than anything. LMK how I can help.

Re: Paging Michael Hood

Michael,

Thanks for all of your help. I see that we are almost "neighbors." I love Savannah and do a bit of "ghost hunting" there when I can!

If you get a chance, perhaps you can call me. I am not a "rookie" and have been a mechanic for 40 years.

Still, I'm a little confused. I assume that the EEPROM is the same as the stock unit I sent to you/John and that you burned me the v11 which has extra fuel at "tip-in"?

The truck is not "totally stock." I gave John a list of the mods: gutted cat, Borla exhaust, smaller crank pulley, Walbro hi-volume/hi-pressure f.p., billet regulator, K/N round air filter on end of stock intake tube, Casper Electronics T.P.S. "enhancer," MSD 6A ignition, balanced/flowed stock injectors, ATR larger upper I/C and also their aux. cooler in front of radiator w/ Shureflow pump. twin electric fans on the back of stock I/C lower chiller, 20g stock turbo w/ 10 CM/2 housing, etc.

Still, as the valve covers have never been off, I guess it is mostly "stock." I have run a best of 12.71@ 106.42 at 18 lbs.

I do have Datamaster but I have a new laptop and am not sure I have loaded the correct "drivers," though I have upgraded Datamaster cables. I wanted to go to John's house after I got your chip and have him check everything w/ Datamaster, but he is a busy guy, now w/ his twins, so I don't know if he will have time.

If not, should I just save some Datamaster files and send them to you to see if the fuel curves, etc., are correct? I will, of course, pay you for your time and any/all "tweaks" that may, or may not, need to be done.

Based on what I have told you of my truck, which version should I start with, the v11 or the v6?
I appreciate your correcting the loose wires/poor soldering. I believe the overall initial build quality of the Ultimate chip was not "the best."

Thanks, again!

Re: Paging Michael Hood

Other way around. The EPROM is the modified V11 chip and the EEPROM is the V6 chip. The V6 chip is a little less polished, but also a little richer than the V11.

For future burns, a DM log would definitely help. Also, some mechanical tuning to help determine the source of the tip-in stumble will help. If you had an emulator and TunerPro, I could email you bins to try until we get it perfect and then burn a permanent chip (though, I'd sell the Ultimate and keep the emulator, but that's just me).

Re: Paging Michael Hood

Michael,

thanks. I will for sure check out getting an emulator and TunerPro which, I assume, I get thru "Code 59"?

Still, which of the two chips do you think would work best, now that I've sent you my combo?

I have checked out all, or most, mechanical issues, though not with DM. Truck has fresh NGK plugs, Taylor wires, fresh cap/rotor with a MSD6A, replaced the TPS, etc.

Sorry, I'm new at this custom chip-burning thing. What do you mean by sending me "bins"?

Thanks, again!

I can set you up with the emulator and software.

Both chips are pretty close, so try either one. If it still seems lean, crank up fuel pressure a bit and see if it's cured. If so, lemme know how much it took to get it right.

Bin = the binary data that the ECM reads. AKA - the chip, the program, the tune, etc... With an emulator, you upload bins instead of "reburning" the chip like you do with a stock chip or Ultimate. Emulation is far easier and faster to get a tune close.
