plastic lines on turbo

There are some plastic lines on the turbo that look like vacuum lines with 90 degree ends on them. I broke one. Anyone know if these are still available at the dealer? Aftermarket?

They are vacuum lines. If you read the SyTy readme on the opening page of SyTy.net, you would know that you should replace them as they are brittle by now. With them disconnected, I would not recommend building any boost unless you want to replace the motor.

Mine did the same thing. They get hot & brittle.I went to the dealer they can get them for like $60 a piece,I laughed. You can get those rubber vacuum elbows anywhere.I also saw a guy on here who replace the whole thing with just vacuum hosing and zip tied the ends.

Yes, replace the whole section of vac line with silicone hoses. Those rubber elbows themselves can cause problems. If you push it on too far, the nipple will bottom out against the back of the elbow, blocking it off. Going to simple hose avoids this altogether.

That little box on top of the turbo is the boost control solenoid. If you like to be able to control your boost (and subsequently not blow up the engine, like they said), you need those vacuum lines.

Hay, I made some great lines for my turbo after the stock plastic ones broke, I went and bought some metal Brake line, took a tubing bender, it tooke about 6 foot of line before I finally got the right shape, (wasted a lot of brake line) :drinking: , bought some plastic elbows to connect them with, and they work great,

Jamie, man I thought your sh!t was blowed up? Maybe the break line slowed the turbo down to much. Sorry I couldnt help my self

If you're wanting to keep everything stock, I have a set laying around somewhere. They are less than a year old and look brand new. Took them off when I went with the PTE setup. If you're interested I'll sell em for $20. But everybody's right, you would probably be better off going with the silicone hose.

cool pic. Thanks for the offer but you are right...I should probably just fab my own and replace everything else while I am at it.

Later.
