in all seriousness, i went for the 92 because the silver decals look better than the gold
The 92 vs 93 was funny like 50 threads ago, it's getting old. Just saying....
Seriously, 92 vs 93, and jackstand jokes are old and not funny.
Agreed.
It's funny in a thread where people get it. It's not funny when a new member is asking a legitimate question. Even though it's been answered before, can be found by searching, or looking it up on the web, this is a forum about the trucks and keeping the info alive and accurate.
You guys wonder why people have no idea what a real SyTy is and/or have a crap ton of misinformation. This kind of stuff pops up in Google searches.
Edit: For the Original Poster. Here's the nutshell, truth version:
Do you know the differences between the 92 & 93 Typhoons?
Body:
92 got escutheons around the door handles, unpainted
92 Typhoons have silver logos
93 Typhoon have gold logos
92 Grilles were gray in the headlight buckets
Interior:
Door Panels:
92's had a pleated/bunched up look
93 has a single horizontal seam
(Same concept is carried into the side panels in the rear seating area)
Seats:
92 has leather fronts, but cloth sides and backs, also has the Typhoon logo embroidered in the head rest. Manual lumbar via hand pump bulbs
93 got the Fat Man full leather power seats
Drivetrain remains the same.
I answered his question in the second post. No misinformation here. He acknowledged the interior differences, and asked about significant differences (drive train).
Here's an "in-accuracy" that I see all the time. Fat Man seats are NOT "full leather". Only the seating surfaces are leather. The sides and backs are Vinyl. Take a look. It's NOT the same material. This is true for almost any GM "full leather" seat in the 90's.
This topic should be made a sticky so the new members can't miss seeing it. These are facts that a new enthusiast should be educated with when first entering the SyTy world. Its not that complicated there are only two years to understand. Try talking about the differences between the '83 to '94 S10 Blazers!!! Much more intense.
92's also have black grille letters and the middle of the grill is black, not just the grey around the headlights.
If you want to go a step further... the Saudi Ty's don't have reflective glass, it's clear all the way around.
