George Bush was President in 1992.
Bill Clinton was President in 1993.

So 92 owners spend a shit ton of money on their trucks and claim they don't, and 93 owners scavenge the board looking for free parts and handouts.

Just sayin'.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

in all seriousness, i went for the 92 because the silver decals look better than the gold

Problem I have with the 92 decals is they are kinda hidden and hard to see on the trucks with grey cladding.

I thought you guys knew...

93 have the Dunn heads, which are much more rare and flow much more. Plus there was only 1 made with the black exterior/black interior combo by bob on a Wednesday in august while he was sober at 3:45 pm.

If you guys didn't get it, its a ZR-1 joke.

Agreed.

It's funny in a thread where people get it. It's not funny when a new member is asking a legitimate question. Even though it's been answered before, can be found by searching, or looking it up on the web, this is a forum about the trucks and keeping the info alive and accurate.

You guys wonder why people have no idea what a real SyTy is and/or have a crap ton of misinformation. This kind of stuff pops up in Google searches.

Edit: For the Original Poster. Here's the nutshell, truth version:

Do you know the differences between the 92 & 93 Typhoons?

Body:
92 got escutheons around the door handles, unpainted

92 Typhoons have silver logos
93 Typhoon have gold logos

92 Grilles were gray in the headlight buckets

Interior:
Door Panels:
92's had a pleated/bunched up look
93 has a single horizontal seam

(Same concept is carried into the side panels in the rear seating area)

Seats:

92 has leather fronts, but cloth sides and backs, also has the Typhoon logo embroidered in the head rest. Manual lumbar via hand pump bulbs

93 got the Fat Man seats. leather seating area, vinyl back

Drivetrain remains the same.

I answered his question in the second post. No misinformation here. He acknowledged the interior differences, and asked about significant differences (drive train).

I know. I was just re-emphasizing for effect.

I appreciate the honest answer to his question.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

Here's an "in-accuracy" that I see all the time. Fat Man seats are NOT "full leather". Only the seating surfaces are leather. The sides and backs are Vinyl. Take a look. It's NOT the same material. This is true for almost any GM "full leather" seat in the 90's.

Good info!

I've never paid attention, since I had a '92. Think I've only ridden in one '93. I'll fix it in my post.

Yep, I have a cover apart at home if anybody needs proof of that.

To be honest GM leather on anything was never that great.

This topic should be made a sticky so the new members can't miss seeing it. These are facts that a new enthusiast should be educated with when first entering the SyTy world. Its not that complicated there are only two years to understand. Try talking about the differences between the '83 to '94 S10 Blazers!!! Much more intense.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

92's also have black grille letters and the middle of the grill is black, not just the grey around the headlights.

If you want to go a step further... the Saudi Ty's don't have reflective glass, it's clear all the way around.

Not all 92's, typically the 1st half of production.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

Both 92's and 93's had parts made in Canada. It adds to the overall value. It all boils down to personal taste. I still ilke the fatman seats, I think if they made full leather in the 92 interior I would like it more. The 92 interior seems so cheap with a half leather/cloth look. I do like the Typhoon stitching on the headrest part.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

I bought my 92 cause of the Silver Typhoon lettering...just didn't like the GOLD, and the Typhoon seats stiching. As for the seats (quality of leather)...mine look amazing for the amount of milage approaching 160K.
