Poly mounts wont line up, damn.

Well I am trying to get this piece going down the road. I put the passenger side mount through bolt in and went to the driver side and that side wont line up and my steering shaft hits my headers. I pulled out the bolt on the passenger side and lined up the driver side, My steering does not hit anymore, but you guessed it the other side won't line up.:rant::rant: Does anyone know what needs to happen now? Here's a pic from when I quit on the pass side.

If you have all the bolts tightened up loosen them up a little. The mount to pad bolts and the mount to motor bolts. That should give you the wiggle room you need to get them through. On several occassions, not on the Ty, I have had to go in and help pursuade things together with a pry bar.

Once you get the through bolts in then you can go back and tighten everything up.

X2 Tough as it is there's more play in the frame pad/mount combo. Your experience may vary (mine were solids.)

The headers were on there when i bought the truck. I think they are Kenne bells. I will loosen stuff up tomorrow.

Can't really see it well, but it looks like you don't have enough shielding.
Your mounts will go to molten goo without it.

Those poly mounts may melt if you do not use the factory heat shields. If you do not have them Mike Renz makes his version.

Re: Poly mounts wont line up, damn.

so i put my poly mounts in today. it took all day long. the whole front end was already off, inner fenders also. what a PITA. amongst other things this did not make my day. i was ready to burn the whole garage down.

i had the rpm frame pads, i had to remove them and trim the ears off clear down to the tube welded in the center, where the mount bolt goes through. the poly mounts have a weld in the corner where the stock mounts do not. the mounts weren't that bad but removing those mount plates grinding them down, painting, and reassembling was a nightmare. the drivers side took my dads help to get the pad unbolted.

i forgot to get out of car pics after the trimming was done, i was way to pissed to even think about it, i did snap a pic of one in the car.

anyways moral of the story is that i had the same problem the OP had, bolt holes not lining up, even after the triming. i set the stock v8 mounts i had next to the poly v8 mounts and there was about 1/16 difference in height, which isn't alot but when you add the other side in you are now a full 1/8 in off, and when bolt holes are drilled a specific size there isn't much room for error. i had to pry the motor to get bolts to go through, pita but got it done.

anyone else going this same direction, have fun, and remember to trim the top ears off PRIOR to installing the frame pads, or you WILL be sorry. i first put them in when the front diff was out, now that it was in, and i wasn't pulling it out again it was terrible.
