....pop goes the halfshaft cause the halfshaft goes pop!

well 1,200 miles is what i got out of a remanufactured half shaft. I was driving to work today when it sounded like i was driving on a gravel road, looked under the truck and the boot was all torn and twisted, the funny thins is it never even saw a boosted launch yet! oh' well..

the only thing that sux is I started to take apart my mustang last night(putting on cobra intake 24lb inj. 70mm TB....yada yada yada......)

just my luck to be carless   :x :fist:

I went to install a half shaft on a ty and the rebuilt half shaft had a huge inner boot. It was coilover truck (with tighter tolerances), but i think it would have hit the stock shock as well.

I too had a bad halfshaft and when I replaced it, the remanufactured part had three bellows instead of the factory six(?) Even with coilovers, no rubbing.

anyone tried to locate a better product?

...seems the remanufactured units suck just as bad as the new GM units.

www.fidanza.com make performance CV shafts, but no listing (big surprise) for any GM trucks.

I'm certain there is a cross-reference, if we knew the parameters of the stock CV shaft.

Anyone up for the challenge?

Seems the halfshaft rebuild business is filled with crooks. Last experience for me (non-syty) I took back 3 and switched suppliers before I got one that looked right. 2 looked like someone had just wiped the grease off them and stuck them in a box.

I think you're onto something here. I had a shop replace a halfshaft on my Saab, and right away it started binding up and popping.
