.....It appears that you have cinder blocks as jack stand.
I lost two friends (one a relative's wife) due to crushing.
If Im mistaken, please except my apologies...but otherwise
buy some jack stands or get it back on the ground quickly.

I would hate to see anyone else injured due to not knowing
just how dangerous cinder blocks are.

Unforuntately we lost a member on this forum who was using jackstands. IMO, jackstands arent any more or less safe than anything else, seems theres always a risk involved when working under a car, with exception to maybe ramps, but they only work for half the car.

I do agree however that his blocks are stacked INCORRECTLY! That is the WORST possible way to use concrete blocks (hopefully they are not cinder). The holes in the block should ALWAYS be vertical, not horizontal, they have no strength the way they are stacked in that picture and I would not be caught under that vehicle, and thats coming from someone who didnt own a pair of jackstands till last summer. I also hope you have a block of wood between the frame/axle and the block. Please go rearrange your blocks.

Not much has changed except the addition of the Fantastic looking 4" cowl hood. ;)
Garage is extra messy with X-mas boxes on the floor, on the hood of the Sy & home improvement stuff on the floor. Time too clean up.

Re: Post a pic of your truck taken today

Unless there was another member on here other than Dave Welch "myclone" who was killed, the answer is "no" he wasn't using jack stands when he was killed. He had the front of his dually crew cab jacked up with just the floor jack when it slipped off while he was under the truck. Mike Renz, E-Rue and I went to his funeral and we were invited to go to his house afterwards by his wife, Lisa. The jackstands were tucked away in the corner of the garage literally inches from the dually in the garage. About a year later I asked Lisa about the accident and as I hoped that it would have been for Dave, he was killed instantly so he didn't suffer. I wish that Lisa wasn't the one that found him because that was the last time that she saw him...

that story really makes me feel bad again. i heard it from ryan, read it on the board, and now again. the good guys always go. i thought the truck was on ramps and when he removed the rearshaft the "park" let go. (removing his tranny).
we all get lucky from time to time, but he had bad luck. may he be in heaven driving the piss out of syty's and feel good:myclone:

the cinder blocks have wood on top of them so nothing sharp can puncture them. I plan on having it back down on the ground tomorrow with a repaired T-case

Something puncturing them is not the problem, the cinder blocks will simply give out from the weight due to the nature of the material used to produce them. PLEASE put something else under there before you get back in there!
