im having a really hard time keeping the PTE downpipe off of the frame rail. i tried loosening the band clamps, and pulling it over a bit then retightening them, but when ever i get under the truck its sitting on the frame rail again. anyone else run into this problem, and figure it out?

I have the same problem as well and have tried everything. BTW, the downpipe parts are in the right order. Anyones thoughts on putting a small dent in the DP where it touches the frame?

Our current in house parts that we receive today for these kits, still match the original pieces. When the kit was designed from the beginning, there was about 3/4 of an inch designed-in for clearance. What happens is, sometimes the motors are set in differently due to the motor mounts moving around a bit. Have either of you installed different motor mounts?
Just a thought.

I have new poly mounts installed all around. And after I figured out that I was a dumbass and installed the the DP wrong the first time, I'd say now I have at least 1" clearance between the frame & DP.

yes. i have poly motor mounts, and i have ATR headers. the first piece of the downpipe just seems like it is pointing a little too much towards the fender. the second piece with the dump, ends up trying to rest on the frame. i tried loosening the clamps, and pulling it back. i even tried bending it. (with no luck) this morning i left my truck at a fancy shmancy custom exhaust shop. they do a lot of race cars and street rods using stainless, so i didnt freak out about leaving my truck there. they seemed to think they could easily fix it. they have a mandrel bender. i guess we will see this afternoon. wish me luck.

Uh ohhh... Umm E... Ya think we mighta put the DP jigsaw puzzle togeather wrong??  After what 4cfed said Im beginning to worry as their sure wasnt anywhere close to an inch of space... More like 1/8th inch..

Maybe we shoulda read the directions and drank less beer???

Well, the clue to that puzzle would be if the dump portion of the DP was hitting on the heat shield under the pass. seat. Also, the dump outlet points more forward rather than down, towards the front of the truck, when installed incorrectly.

Hmm. Thats the way his looked once we were done. Dump kinda pointed toward the front of the truck.

Whewww... Thought Id goofed up on the install (like I need another reason for you ppl to ridicule me :D )

I don't think I explained that very well.
Let me try again.

If you made the dump portion of the DP the second in the chain from the turbo, this is wrong. Installed this way, the dump will point more forward.

If you installed the slight S piece as the second portion of the DP in the chain, this right. Installed this way, the dump will point more downward.

Thats they way we had it when I left. piece with WG puck fist-S piece next-dump piece next-dump to cat piece-then finally cat..

Im 95% sure thats the way it was but E mighta changed things after I left as we lacked some bolts to finish up the install. Id ask him but he went racin... Ughh... Wish I was

we did it just fine. it fit too well to be incorrect. the exhaust shop fixed it with no problem. i now have 1/2" clearance. it just needed a little tweeking.

the track was fun tonight. i still have the stock converter so it slowed me down a lot, not being able to launch, or spool the turbo until 3000 rpm. i still managed to run a 13.0 at 109mph with a 2.25 60' on 16psi. this was also the run that the torque converter died on, so im sure it would have been a 12 second pass. when it was susposed to lock up in third gear, mine went crazy limp and the motor spun up to 5000 rpm. im not real sure what caused that but im not gonna run anymore till i figure it out.
