Well finally after years of looking, i finally own my first typhoon and im so excited to own a part of history.. Was dropped off to me tueday and drove her home.. The ty came from michigan from a forum member. Shes a little rough, and needs some work but just will make me appriciate it just that much more.. Got alot of plans with this since this is my dream truck, and even better my favorite color.. I bought some sea foam today and ran that threw the motor, cleared it up a bit but still has a hesitation past 1/2 throttle.. im not getting to worried about it yet since i still have to install new plugs/wires/cap & rotor. Was told it could be old gas since its been sitting since winter/spring but we'll see.....



As for plans:

Clean the heck outta the interior!! its a mess

Get rid of the horrible tailights!

Lower the suspention "should be happening thursday"

Strip the rims and paint them black since clear is pealing

Over Winter "paint job, either flat white or pearl white"

Some motor mods once the motor is up and running to spec

And heres what i did tonight.. Cleaned the interior up and fixed the radio so it works.. im extremely happy with how well the interior cleaned up

Was also snoopin around the motor earlier and was wondering if this might be a problem.. shouldnt a hose be running into this??

yea yea yea.. already got 4 stands lol.. will be up on 2 tommorow night for the rear suspention.. this weekend im gonna start working on that motor..

truck looks good. nice clean job. what are doing for the lowering kit in the rear, blocks or full lowering springs?

Whatever happened to the Syclone twin to this truck that was for sale?? This one looks like it cleaned up nicely!

The truck looks real good all cleaned up. What size are the rims front and rear? Do you know if they are the factory GM rims or aftermarket?

Rims/tires are 275 45 18 all around. will be blocks in rear for now

This is what I'm running on my Ty once it's back on the road again. I found four 18" factory Alchoa rims, I have to buy two full sets and part out the 17's.

Good luck, should look good with black rims.

Very nice looking truck, and congrats on picking her up! :tup:

If you're interested, I might have a set of stock, blazer tail lights in my big Bin O' Parts in the garage that I'd be willing to trade for those altezza ones.

Also, what did you use on the interior to clean it? The before and after looks fantastic.

im highly interested in trading, i have no idea on how far you are but im sure id meet ya half way and would love to meet another owner :)

As for cleaning, i used to upholstry cleaner for the carpets.. spray nine on all the interior to get the grime and dust off.. then went over all the leather/vinyl with a leather protector.. i cant get some more info and pics if your more interested.

so heres last night around 9ish after finishing the drop

So after pulling the ty back in, i got to work on that tune up.. "plugs/wires/ cap and rotor"

Pulled all the plugs, and they all smelt like gas.. didnt know if this was just because i started it up and turned it around and parked it or what.. but anyways i kept going.. I got to one of the plug wires on the drivers side and it wasnt even connected to the spark plug!! so i was hoping it might have just came loose and popped off rather then cover up a problem.. so i got all the plugs and wires in.. then got to the cap and rotor.. pics tell the story of that.

After all that was installed, started it up and idled soooo smooth now.. took her for a spin and shes alot smoother then before but still doesnt feel like the motor pulls to full potential.. and i know the gauge is off but after it hits higher rpms the motor starts to cut in and out and the needle reads 15lbs of boost. i will be buying a mechanical boost gauge tomorow morning and installing that to get a idea whats going on.



But anyways past the motor part, this is what im doing tomorow.. buffing her up, shes real dulled out from sun and whatever else its sat in.. i buffed the passenger side of the hood to get a idea what im working on..

and a little run down of the motor problem im having.. Keep in mind i "just" replaced cap/rotor/plugs and wires.. acdelco plugs gapped to .035 <-- curious if thats the problem, i just bumped them down to .030 but havent had a chance to drive it yet since rain..
Anyways been driving it around the neighbored and back streets a bit, at wot the stock boost needle pegs past 15 which got me worried.. so i disconnected the boost solenoid and took it out for another spin and it stayed probly 10ish on the gauge.. anyways went to parts store to pick up a real boost/vac gauge. At idle im getting 20ish of neg vacuum, then i connected the solenoid back up and out for another spin and its sticking around 14/15ish of boost so on that im good.. but the problem is anything past 3000rpm the thing just is sluggish, and takes forever to progress in mph and and rpm range, and even when i first give it wot for a split second i feel it cut out then goes till around that 3000rpm spot.. from 40-60mph it takes a lonnnnggg time to gain speed but the boost stays at 15.. Any help??? i was leaning maybe towards a clogged cat, or a fuel issue.
