blah, I just got home. PA was like a parking lot, man I hate that state.

Anyway, nothing has changed other than me moving it to the other side of the yard before I left for Nats, but now that Im home and Nats is over with for another year, I will begin working on it again and will have some updates shortly. I would really like it to be done by the end of July, or close to it.

well, this is really the first major update in almost a year.....

finished prepping the door a few weeks ago, just got in put on the truck yesterday.

Spent the last few days removing the roof rack, chipping away at the old flakey paint, fixing a few surface rust spots where the primer had been exposed for who knows how long...

Primed the roof and around all the windows...

great idea on removing the doors...i did my sy fenders that way (inside out) and they came out great...also great roofrack dissapearance...i'm certain it's alot of work for you...looks nice so far and if you keep it up, i bet it'll be as nice or nicer than #180 when you're done!!! the best thing about two stage paint IMO is that you don't necessarily need a paintbooth to spray it...we've done all of mine in a dust infested warehouse then just sanded and polished the imperfections out.....:two thumbs up:

Re: Project "Ugly Duckling" has begun!

well......... 10 months later, I figured its time for an update :)

Ive slowly started working on the Duck again after letting it sit again for most of those 10 months. I pulled the cover off about 2 weeks ago and found my worst fear.....the rust, which appeared to be surface rust from the previous shitty repaint on the drivers side quarter panel, was unfortunately not surface rust.

A few small bubbles started to appear, so I decided to bite the bullet and pull the windows and do this crap once........the correct way.

So after a day and a half of cutting, scraping and grinding the black urethane and rust, this is where we are at.

the nightmare revealed....

After grinding out the rust....

After etching the rust out with acid....

2 coats of SEM Acid Etch Primer for starters.....

We'll see how that sets up, in the mean time Ill most likely start on the other side over the weekend, but I dont think it will be anywhere near as bad as this side.

Good. It will give you something to do besides balling out in AC  How much time do you see from here on out into just the body?

BTW, is this where you do your work from?
