I have been doing a lot of work on my truck and one of the things was to upgrade to a 11 blade safari fan. After the install i started the truck and i wasnt sure if i had the fan pointing the correct way. I think i do becasue from my pictures my old fan had the blades going the same way at least from what i can see. Can someone please verify for me.

Thanks

Re: Radiator Fan

It should be pulling air into the engine bay. While its running see if a paper towel or something it stuck to the radiator from the outside.

That looks right by the look of the blades. Also, the serpentine belt is traveling clockwise when viewed from the front of the truck, which would make the fan spin counter clockwise.

Re: Radiator Fan

I just bought one of those blades and it has a label saying front stamped in the metal, may be able to see it with a mirror

I went crazy looking for some kind of stamp on it and i didnt see anything. I ended up looking at some old pictures with the original fan and installed it the way the old fan was pointing. I hope its correct becasue it is all together already. DAM!

Re: Radiator Fan

I'm going to see if the fan from an '02 Bravada (my DD) will fit the Sy... it's just like the Safari, except it has a ring around the periphery that connects the fan blades - I assume for strength since that I-6 spins up to 6400 at redline. I do know that the Bravada pulls a LOT of air when the clutch engages.

Re: Radiator Fan

Do yourself a favor. Yank that off and install an electric fan.

If it doesnt help then i will have no other choice. But for now it is going to stay. I had plans to remove the original fan to do a clean up so when i got to that point i did some searching here and found out about the 11 blade safari fan. I went from a five blade to an eleven. That has to help something, i hope. :D

Re: Radiator Fan

does that safari fan have a clutch in front of it? if so, is it removable from the fan itself?

I just bought the fan. The clutch is what i had stock which there was nothing wrong with it. The fan turns hard but just was checking to make usre it was right.

If I recall correctly, it's the same fan.
