Just a little race story I did w/my friend w/a BMW M5 396 HP.This was from a roll of about 70 MPH..we were dead even up to about 110 MPH from there I noticed my boost press had fallen off & was flucuating. down :rant: ..anyways I keeped into it ,he got about 3-4 cars ahead until I was at about 5000 RPM, then I let off. Of couse I did not know how fast we were going because my speedo was buried.
So I asked my friend how fast we went up to, he said we were going about 140-145 MPH.
That's the fastest I've been in my Sy. Kinda scary running those original dried out tires
I found out why my boost press was flucuating & losing pressure... I was getting knock retard up to 11 degrees. So... I need better gas or bigger jets on my Aquamist.
That's it. Just something I wanted to share.

what mods do you have? M5's mph around 108 in the 1/4, and they keep pulling hard at the top end. It would take a good running syclone, probably with at least a turbo upgrade, to outrun one from a high speed roll.

Not trying to be a jerk really....But I would not be going 140 with original rubber on my truck. It a good way to make your truck go bye bye real fast....Still is cool though to get your truck going that fast. Hope you can get him next time.

He ran 14.0 @ 103 several times.
I think I would have beaten him if I was not getting a knock retard thus reducing boost.
My Sy ran 12.29 @ 108 @ 1000 ft elev. track. I really did not have that many mods. ATR pitbull chip, aux cooler, Adj. fpr.,tb airfoil, little things here & there. ;-)Nitto DR's

Victor has an M5 and a Typhoon. His M5 beats up on the Ty from a roll, but I spanked him from a light in his own truck before.....

im not tryin to say your a lyer or anything but how can a 2 sec slower car beat a sy from a roll it just dosent make sense.

your truck runs 108 mph on a stock turbo? Thats pretty impressive. Thats got to be one of the faster stock turbo trucks.
103 mph for an m5 seems pretty low. Ive seen them run 106+ at the track, and the mags have had them at 108 or 109.

The altitude for that day we ran was about 3000Ft.Usually my friends M5 runs 100-103 MPH @ 3000FT elevation. Don't believe what all those magazines say... Guy Levy in the truck shootout stated he has a cat, runs 91 octane gas,& so on, He has no cat & runs 116 octane, if I remember correct about the octane?
+ mags always do the correction factor & most of the times they publish those corrected for standard degree day etc.

two,I never dynoed my SY...but I'm guessing 300-320 HP? His M5 is rated @ 396HP
three, those German cars are designed to haul a@# top speed, I think the M5 is supposed to run 160-170 MPH range?
The M5's do not launch as hard as a Sy.
