Re: ready to ride

Okay you need to explain a little bit more on the paintjob for that price. I can ship a car or truck have it painted and shipped back to me for a cheaper price then some of these idiots in new York charging 6-8 grand. The best is that they rather take minor jobs because they can get them done faster instead of painting an entire truck .

Same deal here man.. only place that'll paint anything that cheap ($650) is maaco and they blow especially if you don't do the prep yourself.

Re: ready to ride

The cloth top was done by buddy pruitt. he owns auto trim shop in Tulsa, Ok. Ive seen it on shortwides and elcaminos so I wanted one for my truck. He used the same hardware rails, took the sliding snaps out(so I could go back factory if I wanted) and drilled holes for the snaps so it could fold over the hardware(no show rails). material cost 250.00, labor was 200.00

On the paint job, Ive had so many cars painted and referred so many people that im pretty good friends with the owner. Everything but the tailgate is freshly painted. Your right they make more money painting partial

the guy that did the blue ty with the LT1 and the matching mazda miata manages a maaco. he gave his "inside" opinion on the whole $cheap paint jobs. very good info there if i remember correctly. material i$ material. prep and blocking is gonna be the difference in a good job an a crappy job (my .2)
