Ready to sell my SY... ?s

I have decided to sell my Syclone but don't know what to ask for it. Here's the deal, It needs a paint job, the motor still runs ok but it's weak and uses a little bit of oil.... (1 quart between oil changes. Dont get me wrong, for a person who doesnt mind getting their hands dirty, this would be a great truck and even though it has seen better days you can drive it just like it is and be fine untill you decide to redo it. Is $6,000 too much to ask? I don't think it's worth getting rid of for any less than that! I just want some opinions from you guys about a fair price before I sell it.

How many miles are on it? Is it stock? You said it needs a paint job, does it have rust issues? If you post some pics we could give you a better idea if you are on target or not...

Yea, pictures play a big part on the value. Right now the market it down, and has been for the past year or so. If it has rust and needs lots of TLC it will drop the value hugely. It takes a lot of time and money to fix these trucks up. I'm finding that out the hard way...but it is all worth it in the end to me.

The truck is bone stock with 104,000 miles on the clock. The only thing that has been changed is the air filter kit that someone put on it along with a battery relocation in the wheel well and a turbo timer. There is no rust at all on this truck or any major dents or body repair, just a couple of very small dings here and there ( Good body). Here are some pictures of it. One more thing to add... I replaced the transmission with a new one from GM when the truck had 81,000 miles on it and I have the receipts for that.

for 6k i would def. keep it. if it's running good. the value might get up within a few years. and for 6k it really looks to be a good truck.

x2.. I would not sell my TY either. I have 98k on it now and drive it less than 8k a year. And with all of the threads on here about "Parting out" or "Wrecked my SY/TY" the value just keeps going up.

There is a SY in my area and they are asking close to 10k and its a bucket.. Duct tape holding one of the headlights in the pocket. Pep Boys mud flaps screwed to the cladding. And over 200k miles on it. The lady doesnt take care of it at all... Hold on to it IMO.

6k might be a little low. Unless you need to sell quick. I would ask a little more. No rust moves it up in value.

Re: Ready to sell my SY... ?s

The only reason I was low balling myself at $6,000 was because I know that the truck needs some tlc and a few thousand dollars to make it perfect again. I'm not in a hurry to sell it and don't really need to sell it but it will be a long time before I get around to painting it and probably rebuilding the motor. I paid $8,500 for it about four or five years ago and then I put a transmission in it along with some other nickel and dime repairs like a propshaft, fixed the a/c, window motor, motor mounts......etc,etc,etc. These trucks are alot of fun and I'll miss it if I get rid of it but i've got a ton of prodjects to finish up on my other cars.

Sell Out
Re: Ready to sell my SY... ?s

It sounds like you bought it at a good price. I would think even at 8K it'd sell pretty quickly.

Gauging from all the low ball offers I got on my sy when i was willing to sell it two months ago i'd have to say 6 to 7k range sounds fair I wouldn't let it go for any less unless the motor goes out on you or your strapped for cash.
